Life & Work with Lizette Maldonado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizette Maldonado.

Hi Lizette, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a 21-year-old young aspiring and upcoming influencer who is still every day writing her story. Although there is no end to the story yet there’s always the beginning. I come from a family of wonderful and hard-working people who struggled to be able to offer me the opportunities that I have in our system as far as college, careers, and education. Coming from such a traditional structure and being firmly conditioned that college and good grades would be the only way to live a comfortable life with a sustainable income when I grow up, dulled my creative side who wanted to make a living off of videos and entertaining others as well as making them laugh on social media platforms… After the few years of growth, I have gone through though I will go through more I learned that in 2022 it most definitely was not the only route that was available to me I have plenty of options and even if they didn’t mean starting with social media I soon realized that what I most enjoyed was creating relationships and interacting with people as well as inspiring them to make purposeful income and still live life freely and not treat it as though it is a chore or a job they must show up to every day. After the few years of growth I have gone through though I will go through more I learned that in 2022 it most definitely was not the only route that was available to me I had plenty of options and even if that didn’t mean starting with social media I soon realize that what I most enjoyed was creating relationships and interacting with people as well as inspiring them to make purposeful income and still live life freely and not treat it as though it is a chore or a job they must show up to every day. There are plenty of ups and downs to this journey I have been through and I’m still going through and I’m excited to share the details.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the most challenging things that I have been through during my growth and that I’m still going through is the fact that I do suffer from ADHD just like a few members of my family. Going untreated or unaddressed for so long has made it difficult for me to keep track of things that I was supposed to accomplish when I was in college thinking that I wanted to be something I was not. I’ve always had mood swings and highs and lows that were abnormally in the way of most of my visions and goals… but I think the real struggle has been being able to accept that it is simply a part of me I must learn to love and cope with not a part of me I necessarily have to suppress or throw away. I think we all have parts of ourselves that we haven’t yet addressed or healed from whether it be trauma or personality disorders or certain beliefs that have been programmed in our heads, that can be shameful to confront and hard to love… but I think it’s important to realize that everyone once again has or deals with things like that and there’s a sweet spot of discomfort where we should be OK with addressing those things and learn to give ourselves a little bit of a break and tell ourselves that it’s OK to be human and need to take a moment to reconnect with who we are and appreciate who we are to ourselves.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I like to call myself an artist because I am somebody who loves many things. As I previously stated one thing that my ADHD has benefited me with is being able to explore and try many of different kinds of work in different fields. I’ve done acting, modeling, and I’ve had my fair share in the medical field I have been in and out of the hospitality industry and the food industry and I am currently on the path to building my personal brand and business with client relationships and network marketing/ business and mentorship. Even though I’m not where I want to be it is most definitely something that I’ve seen myself be the most successful in. It has brought me so much happiness and purpose to see that I have been able to inspire and help people or that my story and my beliefs have helped guide others to want to do things that make them happy all while making a purposeful income. All in all, I think what sets me apart is most definitely my ADHD as controversial as it may sound it has helped me persist in things that I love to do regardless of the obstacles that have gotten in the way… it’s almost like having to accept the fact that you might seem a little crazy to have this blind passionate faith that come what May you will get to where you want to be as long as you believe in yourself and all of that comes down to self-love and acceptance.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I think the only thing that I can say I don’t enjoy about the city or any city for that matter is the crazy traffic and I think I speak for many people on this one haha. I grew up in Houston and ever since my mother started taking me around the Galleria where people were always in suits and constantly on the move and there were always things going on around me that inspired me to want to be a part of that world. I think what’s so great about Houston is exactly that that it is almost like its own little world you can go 30 minutes out of it and you’ll hit neighborhoods where it is the complete opposite where there are more developed neighborhoods and areas with people with families or you can spend your days in the loop where all the blissful chaos goes on towards a point where you don’t even have time to stop and makeup problems that aren’t there. I feel like that’s why the city has helped me so much when I have spent time in it is because there’s always something to do and there are always things going on in the city has never failed me that I get so distracted that I don’t even have time to sit and dwell on things that don’t deserve that energy for me.
