Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Jose Fabrega.
Hi Maria Jose, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m an artist by heart, always been, always will be. Everything started when I attended RISD, and it was a beautiful art bubble.
As I learned to make jewelry, I was more focused on art galleries, at the time I also painted huge abstract paintings as well. Then with the years, I realized I wanted to create a business out of my jewelry. But without losing my artiness, my essence and this is how Fábrega ( which is my last name ) was born.
Fábrega is an exciting brand, the creative and dreamy type. We celebrate authenticity, imagination, and freedom.
Through a modernist aesthetic intertwined with the world of art, we create for people who seek beauty in the simplest things.
All of our jewelry is handmade and produced in small batches, creating minimal impact on the environment and the people involved with making it at every step. We believe in making jewelry that is made to last and encourage quality over quantity of consumption.
With a market so saturated on commercial jewelry, we strive for more creative pieces. Trying to find the right balance between art and easy-to-wear pieces.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not really, I feel art is not valued as it should. Also being a Latina makes it harder. But I think everything is changing, right now people are focusing more on the uniqueness of the pieces, been more conscious about what they buy, and how it’s made. Values are more ethical. For us, it’s really important to honor the time and work behind each piece.

My jewelry brand is called Fábrega, it’s a fresh and creative proposal for sensitive people who appreciate art. We believe in creation as a way of expression and evolution. Our fun jewelry will definitely make and difference in you day, making you feel authentic and glamorous.
