Life & Work with Imani Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Imani Davis.

Hi Imani, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always worked in Customer Service and fell in love with this line of business while working in a call center for 3 years located in Nacogdoches. I started off chatting for Verizon, then transferred to taking calls for SWBC. Which then lead me to becoming a Quality Analyst Specialist. Throughout my time there I learned that Customer Service is something I am very passionate about, and I know I am needed in this field. After being in Nacogdoches for 8 years, I relocated back home to Houston and worked for a well-known realtor. I loved what I did but I knew that wasn’t the end for me. I wanted to do something where I felt I can make a difference and educate people and real estate wasn’t going to be the area I accomplished that. After contemplating for a while, I left that job on pure faith that God would place me where I needed to be, and I had no idea where that would place me. After 3 months of being unemployed in the midst of everything around me raising in price I took an interview at The Amell Agency, and I knew as soon as I left that the office, this was for me! I worked in the insurance field before, but it was on the claims end never directly issuing the policy for the insured. Once I learned how important it is to educate people on their insurance

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to get where I am today has been far from smooth, but it has been rewarding! Each mountain climbed led me to a greater meaning! At one point I worked 7 jobs in one year and it was very stressful trying to figure out where I belong in this crazy thing, we call life. Each job I worked led me to where I should be today. Me working in different fields allowed me to start this job and excel quicker than expected because I was familiar to a lot of terms and procedures which allowed me to understand my purpose as an Insurance Agent. Starting this job, I understood that at my 1-year anniversary I will be sent off to obtain my insurance license for the state of Texas. Due to me being determined to be the best I can be and not to settle for the bare minimum I got my license within 3 months with a passing score of 80% on the first try. Throughout the studying processes, I was stressed beyond measure because I hadn’t studied for a test in years! I dropped out of college and tried to go back two different times and I just couldn’t do it. Not that I was unable to, but school is not for me. Which I want people to be more accepting of in this society. You don’t need a degree to be successful or be your own boss. You need drive, understanding, determination and the willpower to accept no and keep going. The only thing in the way of your success is you!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Property & Casualty Insurance Agent for the state of Texas. I provide Auto, Home, Commercial Property, Umbrella, Flood, Workers Compensation and Commercial Auto. I specialize in Auto, Home, Flood & Umbrella but don’t hesitate to reach out for any other needs as listed above! I work for an independent agency which allows for me to shop around with multiple carriers to find you the best priced option. We also are very hands on with our clients and are sure to give each one of them a personal and unique experience. My goal is not to sell you anything but to ensure that you are insured properly and be sure that you are paying the best price option. We live in a time where everything is increasing, and many people are choosing between which bill to pay and which to leave for the next check. Insurance is a necessity not a want and I want to be able to make sure you have the best-priced option available.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Since I am a beginner agent, I am looking to network and partner with realtors, loan officers, brokers, auto salesman, etc. to build my book of business. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me and we can discuss things further! My services are FREE of charge! 🙂

The best way to reach me will be by phone or email.
