Rising Stars: Meet Yolanda Segovia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Segovia.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I always loved everything about beauty and the joy of looking at how it can transform a person in many ways. I went to cosmetology school after my 3 kids started full-time school, took me a bit longer since I had to do part-time. Got my license and decided to open up a salon/suite for myself, it was the best decision I made. I work by appointment only for everything from makeup, haircuts, hair color, and hairstyles for events.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would say the toughest was during covid. We were not allowed to be open for a while. But as with anything, there’s always a good after a bad situation, had quite a bit of color corrections from home dyes. Also made me implement appointment-only service for everyone’s safety and I really liked how that worked out so I kept it at that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in color, I love a challenge. Seeing the person happy and their confidence boost makes my job worth it. I really like to give my client my undivided attention so I only work on one client at a time; this assures me that I do a great job on their hair or whatever it is I’m working on.

How do you think about happiness?
Workwise, the reactions of my customers when they see themselves. Priceless!

Personal wise, my family. I couldn’t do what I do without the support of my husband and my kids. They love to see me happy working in the field that I’m passionate about.
