Today we’d like to introduce you to Pierre Davison.
Hi Pierre, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in two historical Houston neighborhoods, 5th Ward & Pleasantville. In our family church, under the pastoral leadership of my great-grandmother, B.M. Nelson of Rock Apostolic Baptized Church in Jesus Christ we worshipped while learning about God and his son, Jesus Christ and what they represent. Then I later joined Mt. Corinth Missionary Baptist Church where the late great A. Louis Patterson was pastor. From this leadership, we are now led by Pastor Alan Lamar Patterson where he preaches the true and living word of God. While at home, my father, Craig Chapman instilled the greatest lessons of all in me and my four siblings about spiritual growth, self-control, and perseverance. At an incredibly early age, I fell in love with performing whether it was at church, school, or with my cousins for my family members. During my middle school years my mother, Monique Chapman enrolled me into a Beautillion class with Dr. Verna Caddie at Devine Creations where I was crowned King or “Mr. Devine Creations” the first and only Beau to receive this title. It did not stop there, later in 2021 Dr. Caddie recognized my community involvement while I hosted fundraisers for Childhood Cancer (organized by my aunt, Chondrea Hollins), Food and School Supply Drives, and other Need-Based support events with a Humanitarian Award. While participating in school performances, I also found my way getting into community involvement while attending E.L. Furr High School. I joined the debate team and a district-sponsored program called “No More Victims Inc./Legends and Legacies Houston”, these organizations would mold me to be more in tune and aware of not just local communities, but worldwide issues teenagers face every day but not getting the knowledge of how to cope with them maturely. I currently follow my aspirations of being a well-rounded artist such as singing, acting, and modeling in the Houston area. My biggest project to date is for the visual album “When I Get Home” by Solange Knowles where I modeled and danced in the video production. I also worked with other Houston based artists such as fellow Legends and Legacies member Trae Tha Truth and Meagan Thee Stallion.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Once I stopped listening to naysayers and really getting out of my own head of what I am truly capable of I had to study not just school material but who I actually wanted to be and how I wanted to be remembered. I don’t think anything worth gaining is easy, disappointment and struggles help you gain the strength to build your best self and I did that by learning why me? Why am I here? Why am I given these certain gifts? How can I use these gifts differently than how others have used theirs before me?
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an artist. I sing, I act, I dance, I model. I’m really a great big ball of creativity. I specialize in all these things even down to production. I would say I am known for either for my live performances around the city whether it was an open mic show or even karaoke and modeling in fashion shows. I am most proud of finding my voice and image, those two things alone set me apart because of what I said and how I choose to use those gifts for the betterment of others and just making people feel loved whether it’s music or making them feel comfortable in their own skin through clothing.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would just like to share that I just want to sing. I’m a brother, son, nephew, and friend that loves to create; Loving the feeling of making others feel loved. I just replay the same question to myself “Can I Be Me?”.
