Today we’d like to introduce you to Martena Jones.
Hi Martena, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2015, I opened my boutique, Fabulous Diva Boutique. At the time, I was feeling uncertain about the future and had recently been fired from my job. But I was determined to take a leap of faith and start something new. Today, Fabulous Diva Boutique sells fashion-forward clothes for women sizes 14-24. Our goal is simple: We want every woman who walks through our doors to feel loved and accepted by us. That’s why we partner with US and local-based designers to bring you unique pieces that get you noticed. In 2020 we were approached by Mall of America to join their Community Commons—an effort to support minority-owned businesses that were affected by riots and the pandemic in 2019—and opened up a storefront in the Mall of America. We were there for two years before moving to Southdale Center, where we operate today.
Fabulous Diva Boutique has fantastic vendors worldwide, including in Houston, Texas. I travel to Houston to meet with my team and connect with the community because my goal is to open up a storefront in one of the hottest malls in Houston. We recently just had our 4th Annual fashion show in Houston, which turned out great. We had local designers as well as a part of the show. It’s been 2 years since we began expanding to the Community in Texas. I am part of some networking groups which allows me to promote and collaborate with other owners. The group is called “Welcome to H.”
I’ve worked in the fashion industry for 10 years and have made it my mission to help women feel beautiful, confident, and proud of their bodies. Offering the latest trends for plus-size women will inspire other women to do the same. After working in this field for 10 years, I decided it was time to pass on what I’ve learned by creating a masterclass course that offers advice & resources for starting your own clothing business from scratch.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Despite the challenges I faced in starting my business, such as securing grants and resources when I first started and covid facing minor setbacks, I am thankful that God has provided for me and made a way. My faith is strong, and I know that everything happens for a reason; therefore, facing difficult situations makes me stronger.

Fabulous Diva Boutique is more than a brand; it is a community space that allows other local small business owners to sell their products. We believe in giving back and helping others achieve their dreams by offering business coaching. With much time in prayer, God has blessed me to be on many news outlets, including the newspaper and Tv networks. I’m known to be an inspiring entrepreneur and business coach—offering online courses, group programs, and one-on-one coaching.
I am proud of my accomplishments, from not giving up and chasing my dreams with everything I have to the opportunity I was given to be in the biggest mall in the world—and beyond. If you are thinking of starting a clothing brand or have one already, I am ready to help you achieve your goals. My course will allow you to sell your products in my 5,000 square feet store, helping you achieve your goals and break into a winner’s mindset.

If you want to be successful, you must take risks. Some risks will lead to good opportunities; others will lead nowhere. To succeed for me, I took a risk by opening a 5,000-square-foot space in the Mall of America during Covid. After that, my business really took off. From gaining customers worldwide to business connections to being on TV, and more. I’m a risk-taker.
