Daily Inspiration: Meet Alvaro Plaza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alvaro Plaza.

Hi Alvaro, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Back in 2016, my wife Tatiana wanted to celebrate my birthday with something different. She chose to make a Paella, a traditional Spanish dish. We bought a pan big enough to feed 40 people. On June 20, my birthday, we did a woodfire-style paella in our backyard with the help of several friends.

The next day, I woke up looking for leftovers and found out there weren’t any. I realized that making Paellas for special events would be a great idea, but my wife did not like the idea.

From Jun 2016 – Aug 2017, we were cooking paellas in many of our gatherings with friends completely free.

On August 25, 2017, during Harvey and being laid off because of the Oil and Gas Industry, I designed and created all our Social Media and website for San Fermin Paellas and Churrascos.

We chose our name based on The Festival of San Fermin in Pamplona, Navarre, in Northern Spain.

We started promoting our business with our closest friends and paid for ads on Social Media.

Today, we have Paellas and Churrascos events every week and sometimes up to 3 events in 1 day.

We have served at The Houston Polo Club, National Polo Championships, corporate events, and many more.

We cook with the freshest ingredients we can find and cook at the events while guests enjoy watching us cook for them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our biggest struggles have been to get busier. Get more customers. But we are increasing our presence in social media.
