Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxana Phillips.
Hi Roxana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sparked at an early age, Roxana’s passion for makeup was set in stone when she became the girl in school who always did her friend’s hair and makeup. She’s truly talented with an eye for creating a fresh and flawless look that highlights the best and truest version of yourself. Roxana believes everyone has a natural beauty within and it is her passion to bring it out of you and then teach you how to create it at home by doing makeup lessons and Live Makeup and hair tutorials on FB and Instagram.
Roxana, a Mexico City native, moved to Houston, Texas in 1993. As a child began her cosmetology career in 2008 by attending HCC central in downtown Houston. She graduated in the spring of 2008 with her cosmetology operator’s license. In 2017, Roxana continued her passion for professional cosmetics by becoming an educator and affiliate with a clinical makeup and skincare company. From that, she grew a sales team of women that share their passion for makeup and has helped them grow their businesses. She wants to help change the stigma of social selling. She provides her clients with the best of the best and gives them the right tools to apply their makeup at home! She has trained many talented makeup artists. Roxana has over 12 years of experience in the following industries…
Beauty, Bridal, Commercial, Editorial, Production, and Television Hair and Makeup, as well as other specialties not limited to Photo Shoot Hair and Makeup for Headshots, Family Portraits, Maternity, Senior Photos, and Boudoir Shoots. Roxana also offers makeup tutorials and classes.
With an amazing support system and the work ethic that her parents taught her, she is grateful to all her family and friends for all their support and especially to her amazing husband who always supports her in making her dreams a reality.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I worked for free a lot in the beginning!
When you are a freelance artist, sometimes there is work and sometimes, there is not. I chose to find opportunities and not wait for them to come to me. My advice for young women just starting is don’t be afraid to meet and network with new people. Take the opportunities even if you are afraid! You never know where they may lead you!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do a little bit of everything! I have a studio in old town Rosenberg where I give in-person makeup lessons. I also do live makeup tutorials on FB and Instagram. I work bridal, Commercial, Editorial, Production, corporate headshots, and Television Hair and Makeup, as well as other specialties not limited to Photo Shoot Hair and Makeup for Headshots, Family Portraits, Maternity, Senior Photos, and Boudoir Shoots. Roxana also offers makeup tutorials and classes.
In 2017, I partnered with a makeup brand. I provide my clients with the best of the best and give them the right tools to apply their makeup at home! From that, I grew a sales team of women that share their passion for makeup and have helped them grow their businesses. I want to help change the stigma of social selling. What sets me apart is my passion and connection with my clients.
We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is inner happiness and peace.
