Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Cueto.
Hi Molly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Ever since I can remember I have been that person that everyone talks to and I enjoy listening to people to help them along their journey. I started when I was 16, as the first teen, to answer crisis line calls in Northern Nevada. I went to school with a lot of substance abuse and suicides. This was not something that I fully understood at the time, but I wanted to learn and I wanted to help in any way that I could. This leads me down a road of philanthropy work that eventually leads to my current career. I have had the pleasure of working on the Harris County crisis team, leading the peer’s program, and becoming a clinical team lead. I worked for the largest mental health agency in Texas for many years before becoming the Clinic Director of Ellie Mental Health River Oaks.
When I finished school to become a therapist I knew that I always wanted to have my own private practice. I wanted to have the freedom to have a practice that accepted people as they are and de-stigmatized mental health. Becoming an owner of Ellie Mental Health made this possible.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is ever easy in life, We are meant to be challenged to grow and get better. When initially starting a new business I was green about many things. It takes a lot of hard work and patience to stay the course. We dealt with a lot of uncertainty in the beginning stages.
As a therapist and Clinic Director, I have had my share of challenges on my journey to my current position. I have had challenging work that has brought tears to my eyes and dropped me to my knees at times. I believe that I am better at all of them. All experiences have grown me and have not broken me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Clinic Director and LPC. I specialize in crisis and trauma. I am known to use my creativity and organic nature to help people live the lives they’ve imagined.
I am most proud of becoming a business owner. What sets me apart from others is how I make them feel. I have had the pleasure of hearing from clients that I helped years ago still reach out to tell me how they are doing and refer their friends and family to me. It is an honor to be in such intimate relationships with people and builds that rapport and trust so that they can feel safe and eventually, whole again.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Sharing information with others has always been important to me. If I know something that can benefit others I will share the information. Knowledge is power. Many people have helped me on my journey and I pay that forward whenever possible to help others. Getting to know people in the community and seeing how we can help each other is important to me to build a strong community.
The most important lesson that I have learned along my journey is you never know what someone is going through. We all have a story and want to feel heard.
