Today we’d like to introduce you to Toxic Madness. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Toxic Madness was started on June 14th, 2021 by lead vocalist and songwriter Diogenes, and “DJ”, Josue Negron-Forsythe. Following the release of their EP “Live, Laugh, Love”. In September 2022, the song I’m Hardcore was featured on Loud and Local on 97.1 The Eagle (now The Freak) help the group explode onto the punk scene and began playing live shows around the DFW area.
The first being at Three Links on October 8th, 2022. Performing in support of touring acts has become a well-rehearsed routine for other bands. From warming the stage for Cashing In, The Deep End, Love Again, Bethany Rose, Crucial Times, Tryingtogetby (Chicago), Shehee (Georgia), and most recently The Schizophonics (California) at venues such as Cheap Steaks, Killer’s Tacos, Growl. and Three Links the last venue starting to become our home away from home. The band has gone through multiple line up, but recently found a lineup that feels right.
Consisting of D-J on lead vocals/guitar, Nelson Perez on guitars/backup vocals, Jay Stephens on bass, and Barron Gomez on drums/backup vocals.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Our main struggle was trying to find members that fit. The first struggle, early on, was trying to find a guitarist which eventually did in the form of Nelson Perez. After that we had multiple fill-in bassists and drummers to help out during live shows, Baron Gomez being one of those drummers who later became a permanent member of the band.
Later we found Jay Stephens as our permanent bassist in mid-November and since then we have stuck together as both band and team members. Another obstacle we have faced is not playing in some venues due to age (3 members are still in High School and age 15, 16, and 17 years old).
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Each band member specializes in certain things which contribute to the band’s vibe and performance, For example, Barron has excellent rhythm and lays down the groove of the songs for us to bounce off of. D-J presents amazing, energetic vocals that complement the guitar and bass.
He also composes the base structures of the songs. Jay brings groovy and funky lines to the table with the bass playing behind her head. D-J and Jay’s energetic personality compliments each other on stage. Nelson drives the guitar front in the band and is a more laid-back performer. Everyone in the band in some way shape or form helps out.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would like to say thanks to a lot of people who have made this possible and have helped Toxic Madness on the way to the stages.
We are working on the next EP, already strike a partnership with The Merch Shop, and have lots of good stuff happening this year 2023 I want to give a big shout to The Austin Young Show at the deep Ellum radio, Eric Delegard at Real-time audio Denton, DJ Lazerprick at Knon89.3 FM and last but not least Leah Lane from Rose Garden Funeral Party she has been so influential since they compared us, and recently have the pleasure to meet her.
