Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Baldwin.
Hi Cynthia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
For years I’ve always had an intense desire & enthusiasm to bake.
While growing up in East Texas (Palestine), with seven brothers and sisters, cooking and baking was second nature in our household. I often recall watching my mother and my Aunt Edna bake pastries. My beloved aunt would bake homemade cakes for my father’s birthday each and every year & it wasn’t long before I knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps. I was always fascinated by the anatomy of a cake, I wanted to know how it came together, the mixing of the flavors, explore the colors, and smell the aromas while baking.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I am a self-talk Baker who grew up watching my mom and aunt bake pies, cakes, and cookies. I fell in love with the entire concept of baking by watching them. Has the road been smooth? Absolutely not! During covid, we were really concerned that we would not survive.
By God’s grace, we were able to sustain the shop and move forward. Our online sales helped us stay afloat during that time. We have had many financial obstacles but, with the support of family and our loyal clients, we have pulled through!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My talents are from within, and I pride myself on being self-taught, with no formal training. Simply put, I do what I do because of the joy I receive from my clients once we’ve made their event or day a special one to remember. Creating these small & often large sugar-filled works of art is worth each & every smile.
We are located in Houston Texas creating classic custom cakes with a contemporary and stylish flair and a burst of elegance. Our cakes are visually attractive and oh-so-delicious works of art.
What I’m most proud of would be running a small business for the amount of time that we’ve been able to do it without any 1st hand knowledge of running day-to-day operations.
