Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavior Berry.
Hi Xavior, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Xavior Berry I created PlayGodz Marketing Group with my business partner Patrick Anderson in August of 2016. We are a marketing group that originated in Nacogdoches, Tx at Stephen F Austin University. We both threw parties and events when we were in high school and met each other in college. When we first got to college we use to throw these crazy house parties with hundreds of people.
One summer in 2016 my birthday was coming up and I went to Patrick and told him I was going to throw a party/event for my birthday. We put our heads and resources together and threw our first event. Our very first event had over 1000 in attendance and hasn’t looked back since. We became the hottest marketing/promotion group in East Texas in just a few months.
After a few events in 2016, I (Xavior Berry) became a DJ. I go by “DJ Blaxk”. Once that happened we took off and started to expand our events all over Texas. We’ve done events in Nacogdoches, Tyler, Huntsville, Houston, Dallas, and more. Recently at the end of 2022, we decided to legitimately expand our brand and Houston Tx became our home. We wanted to move to Houston to expand and grow our business to a whole different level.
I got here today by being very ambitious and creative and having good hard working people around me. We work very hard daily to understand the culture and give back to it. Me and Patrick been the head of this business for a very long time and continue to grow our business and want to eventually expand outside of Texas.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing is ever a smooth road anything worth having is worth working for. We’ve for sure had many downs but we never got complacent. We’ve had artists cancel last-minute issues with venues. Also just starting up a marketing group out of nowhere we had to grow our business and reach a lot of people at first that was a hard task but we mastered it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Besides being Co-CEO of PlayGodz Marketing Group I am a Professional DJ. My Dj name is Dj Blaxk. I’ve Dj all over Texas and for many different artists, NLE Choppa, BeatKing, Kstylis, Lil Flip, Z-RO, Amanda Perez, and more.
My biggest accomplishment has been making Playgodz what it is today and my being one of the best DJs in the state is just icing on the cake. As a DJ my versatility is what sets me apart from most. I can DJ for any and every culture. Music was my first love since a kid and throwing events with Patrick is what gave me an outlet to express my love for music.
