Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Salery.

Hi Dominique, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Started wedding a business with no money planning weddings for free just to get a relationship with brides to have a good word of mouth. For the first 2 years, I only planned weddings in Shreveport, LA. After I brought on a decorator and decided to do the traveling. I started doing wedding planning traveling in Louisiana first and got known for my services in New Orleans so I decided to service the whole state because I love to travel and make brides happy and they were paying for me to come. In no time I added Dallas and Houston to my market. Honestly out of all the cities I service Houston is my favorite. I love all my clients. The Venues and vendors are super nice and gained a great relationship.

The road to having a successful business hasn’t been easy. I have had wedding vendors kick me out of wedding planning groups on social media because of something that wasn’t true and didn’t even bother to hear my side of the story. I have had Venues throw away my business cards in front of me and all I wanted to do is a network and gain a relationship. I have had other wedding decorators and planners who left me on read inboxes because I was asking for advice. I was willing to pay for time. I have had wedding planners steal clients from me and bad-mouth me.

I still didn’t give up I have been in business for almost 8 years and never gave up or put my business on hold.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. I started broke. My car always broke down on me my first client ever schedule to do Venue tours and the night before I had a wreck and had to get dropped off at the client’s home so we can ride together.

I have had clients run out on not paying and leave me with how am I going to cover business expenses for the month.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a wedding planner and decorator.

I am known for a day of coordinating services and full planning services. I offer wedding planning, decorating, and day-of-coordinating services. I am most proud of the bride telling me how she was pleased with my services. What sets me apart from others is that I will travel to get the job done.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was shy not too outgoing. I had friends. But mostly all I did was work I wanted to have money for shoes so I got a job.
