Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Novoa Libermann.
Hi Joseph, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a physician specializing Medical Aesthetics and Men’s Sexual Health. I have over 12 years’ experience in international Aesthetics Medicine including in the UK where I also worked for many years in Emergency Medicine and where I currently hold a medical license… I am graduated of Medicine from the University of Puebla, Mexico.
My Journey in Aesthetic Medicine began in Florida under the guidance of one of the foremost plastic surgeons in the US where I eventually began performing medical aesthetic treatments on international cruise lines as part of Dr. Brad Herman’s team, In the Uk, I continued my journey in Medical aesthetics at the renowned medical aesthetics and dermatology center Discover Laser with Dr. Miguel Montero a world-class Medical Aesthetics practitioner. I was invited to join the UK Medical Aesthetics Training Association (MATA) as a trainor where I spent several years training Physicians and other clinicians in Medical Aesthetic treatments including injectables such as Neurotoxins and Fillers.
I returned to the US in 2021 where I have been working as the Practice Manager at Galleria Aesthetics and Wellness. One of the oldest most established Medical Spas in Houston. Together with Dr. Marjon Monfared, a double board-certified physician with an extensive career in medical aesthetics and an owner of Galleria Aesthetics, we decided to open a training academy. People may think it’s odd that we are basically training our competitors; however, we see it differently. Our aim is to improve our industry and create a well-educated, well-trained community of medical aesthetic practitioners who will help elevate our industry in terms of ethics, professionalism, and quality.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Certainly, working under Covid pandemic conditions in Emergency medicine was a challenge. However, it taught me resilience and the need to maintain professionalism even under severe stress, Together with Dr. Monfared who currently serves at the US Veteran’s Association and faces challenges every day working with our Service men and women we share a commitment to community health and medical ethics. It’s not easy in our fast-paced, constantly evolving profit-driven aesthetics industry to put those value ahead of all else. So, it can be a struggle to get our message across. But the struggle is worth the effort. We want to transform this industry to one that focuses on patients and patient safety above all else. We wanted to change our industry because we saw at firsthand the real lack in the quality of education and training in medical aesthetics in Texas. We saw a real need to improve our industry’s practitioners, but we face major hurdles especially from bad faith actors who are willing to offer low-quality courses at deeply discounted prices in order to make a profit and in real terms make our industry much poorer for it. There is just so much noise in this industry, and it can be a real struggle to be heard.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As the lead trainer at the training academy and the Practice manager for a busy medical spa, my days are spent organizing and leading training sessions for our academy students, managing and leading the Aesthetics team, and treating our medical spa patients.
My specialty is aesthetic injectables such as botox and fillers although I have extensive experience of aesthetic medicine in general. Creating and running a best-in-class aesthetics training programme is an important part of my work as is Patient outcomes. As a hands-on trainer and manager, I love to train, educate and work closely with my other colleagues in the aesthetics world and at our Medical Spa to help foster and promote our values of ethics, professionalism, and patient care.
I am best known for my 12 years’ experience in aesthetic medicine and my knowledge as both a trainer and practitioner. I am most proud of the quality of our teaching academy and the level of patient care we provide to our community.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about Houston is its diversity. Coming from England diversity is something that is to be cherished and valued. We are here to serve a community. A community of diverse people who share the values for which we stand.
I don’t enjoy the hurricanes and the traffic.
