Today we’d like to introduce you to Delee D’Arcy.
Hi Delee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
After college, I worked in the Advertising and Travel industries for 11 years. Having been in therapy myself and knowing its value, I decided to change paths and become a therapist. I chose Marriage and Family Therapy because I am a strong believer in the ripple effect. I wanted my work to impact families, and so make a difference in the world.
At one agency, I became the therapist who would take the ‘tougher’ referrals when others would not. Generally, these were clients with anger ‘issues’. They looked and sounded angry, which was off-putting to many around them. I was not afraid to work with them. I realized that their ‘anger’ was the result of struggling with how to say what they meant. Their responses were either silence or emotional explosions… neither created connection and closeness.
I sat with them and validated their strong feelings. I created space for them to practice saying what they needed to say and in ways that others could hear. My clients began to see success in life and relationships without giving up themselves or their masculinity.
Life Coaching and course creation was the natural path to help more men. I developed my Essential Relationship Roadmap. I invite men to take the wheel, and together we determine the easiest route to their dream life/relationship. Potential speedbumps and detours became less problematic, and life improves!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Few roads are without a few potholes or necessary detours! And if we’re honest, they sometimes give us the opportunity to see opportunity! When roads are smooth and straight, we don’t have to learn to course correct and use our creativity! Budget cuts and layoffs at agencies were some of the struggles which invited me to re-route my own path. These events lead me to create my own business and take the wheel! And I’ve lived the intense feelings that were often misunderstood, like my clients. Learning better ways of navigating communication has helped me help them! Relationships are hard and there is no one-size-fits-all roadmap.

My favorite memories are at the beach! I loved playing in the sand and surf to the point of exhaustion… there’s still nothing like a day at a beach – any beach!
