Conversations with Jenna Boehm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Boehm.

Hi Jenna, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up around cameras….my family always had them around, so I was very familiar with them. Around high school, I decided to pick up the family camera and started documenting our life. Eventually, I decided to use my skills to help get me through college. I found my passion early on, which is weddings. I love seeing people wildly in love and capturing those memories for them. As I got older my business grew and people got more familiar with me. I have done events, livestock shows, weddings, boudoir, and so much more. It is crazy to think that 18-year-old me only dreamed of the life and business I have now!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think the biggest struggle I have gone through is truly finding my nitch. I have had some incredible role models in this industry, but I was never truly comfortable with my style or who I was as a business owner. It took me a while to be confident in my skills. During COVID I lost my corporate job and was not sure if photography was going to work out. We were not allowed to do sessions, and I struggled to believe that I could continue my business. 2021 and 2022 ended up being the most booked years of my career. I am so thankful for the struggles I have gone through as they have taught me to persevere through those tough times.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in weddings, graduates, and boudoir. My style is warm and natural. I want my clients to be captured in their truest form and be comfortable in the moment. I have been doing weddings for 4 years, but my boudoir business has truly picked up since I started in 2021.

I am most proud of the relationships I build with my clients; I really try to let them leave the worrying to me. I am the hype woman, hair fluffer, tissue getter, and anything else you can think of! I always get tears in my eyes when clients text me right after a session letting me know how much fun or how comfortable and relaxed the session was. I think that also sets me apart from others, I am not all business. These photos will be around for years to come, and you’ll remember more than just the picture, you’ll remember the smell, the laugh, the warmth…all of it and I want to make sure it’s all good memories.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Making people happy. I aspire to be the person that fills others’ cups. I do not like seeing people upset and if I can do one thing to turn their day around then that is perfect. My business strives to make a difference for people
