Today we’d like to introduce you to Daphney M. Chaney. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Daphney Chaney is passionate about the word and will of God. She is a prophetic voice for this NOW generation. Whether it is through viral messages or the anointing of her pen, the voice of God reverberates boldly to bring conviction, healing, deliverance and direction to the masses.
Daphney was actively involved in ministry at an early age, but her religion prohibited her from fully embracing Jesus Christ. In 2002, she had a visitation from God that transformed her life forever. This new path became the benchmark of her purpose and preparation for the mantle of God.
A woman of great resolve, she is a powerful expository Bible teacher, preacher, prayer warrior, deliverance minister, evangelist, prophet, certified Christian Counselor, and Pastor of New Generation House of Prayer in Houston, Texas. She is the accomplished author of Intentionally Growing into a Young Woman of Faith, Breaking Generational Cycles, and Securing Generational Blessings. And her latest book, Religion Interrupted. She is zealous for the cause of Christ, adamant about souls being saved and people knowing the uncompromising truths of the Bible and holiness.
As a teen success coach and women’s mentor, she is dedicated to equipping and leading individuals in spiritual growth. She has spent many years training others in ministry, prayer, evangelism, outreach, and business leadership. Endowed with many spiritual gifts and wisdom, she is sought out for spiritual direction, guidance, and counsel by both men and women, young and old.
A business entrepreneur, Daphney is CEO of Emerge Editing & Writing and has published and ghostwritten numerous books ranging from personal testimonies and business to leadership and Christian theology. She has also written manuals for Human Resources Departments, corporate trainings, and compliance. In Corporate America she worked as an accountant and business administrator for more than 15 years.
She has been the keynote and guest speaker for organizations and divisions of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inspire Women, National Women of Achievement, The National Association of Black Social Workers, and many church and faith-based organizations. In 2009 she was the recipient of the Editor’s Choice award from the International Library of Poetry. In that same year, she became the founder and Executive Director of Intentionally You! Girls and young women’s mentorship organization and hosts the Intentionally You! semi-annual conference. She mentored and facilitated effective workshops for at-risk youth and young adults in schools and universities for several years. In 2011 she assisted in developing curriculums for Destiny youth camp in Liberia, Africa.
In 2016, Daphney launched the When Women Wail annual prayer conference. A conference that focuses strategically on prayer and prophetic intercession. She has seen God work miracles through these conferences. Many are birthed into their God-ordained purpose, earning her the title “Spiritual Midwife.” In 2017 She founded, Accessing the Courts of Heaven 12-Hour Prayer Call. Daphney is the former host of the Intentional Living Blog Talk radio show. She currently hosts her own podcast via YouTube and various social media outlets. Daphney has also been featured in numerous media outlets including Great Day Houston, Believer’s Talk, The Life Talk Show, AO TV, Houston Business Journal, Epitome, and Women of Wisdom magazine.
She is the blessed mother of two adult children, Davion and Morgan, and grandmother to two beautiful granddaughters- Madison and Melody.
With all that God has graciously allowed her to accomplish, she knows she has yet to tip the scales on what God has planned for her. In her own words, “Life hasn’t been all glitz and glamour; I know what it is like to feel hopeless, lost, depressed, anxious, afraid, insecure, and wounded. From joblessness, homelessness, generational bondage, and toxic relationships—God took what was messed up and made something wonderful. His love was the catalyst for revival in my own life. It is my earnest desire to be a vessel of honor that is used to bring revival in every nation, tribe, and tongue.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I literally took a deep breath to respond to this question. I don’t believe anyone chosen for ministry has a smooth road. Sometimes, life itself doesn’t afford us the opportunity for smooth sailing. But to answer the question, no the process of becoming all that God desires us to be is quite challenging. If I had to dig into the past, I’d say the negative choices and decisions I’ve made have landed me in some tough situations. Bringing things current, I love how God shapes and molds us, by allowing certain circumstances in our lives. The circumstances for me have ranged from battling illness, homelessness, family issues and feeling ostracized among my peers. I know what it is like to be misunderstood, falsely accused, and mocked because of my faith, my stand for holiness, and obedience to God. However, because of it, I’ve grown, my faith is deeper and more solid, and I’m ever more determined to fulfill God’s mandate for my life. I carry a deep burden for family healing and wholeness. I’ve lost quite a few very close family members; my mom passed away when I was 23. My middle sister died in 2007, the eldest in 2020. And my father in 2019. With no siblings and no parents, some days, I feel alone. But God’s love consistently reminds me that just as He did for Eve, He has appointed me another seed! The seeds of generations are at stake! My prayer is for all to come to know Jesus Christ and the power of His salvation, and the redemption, healing, and deliverance through His blood.
As an advocate for youth and against community violence and drugs among other things, I strongly believe when families heal, communities heal.
Because of the mandate, I’ve learned that there is spiritual warfare [resistance] and opposition which can come from those closest to you, in relation, friendships, as well as co-laborers. It also comes by way of spiritual attack. But I am fully persuaded that if God is for me, He is more than those against me. I am armed with faith and power in the Holy Ghost.
Being totally transparent, at times, mental battles can be difficult. It takes intentionality, to keep one’s mind and eyes on what lies ahead. I am completely confident that everything God has promised shall come to pass.
In addition to the many spiritual gifts, I am also a pastor. That alone comes with challenges. I think the greatest challenge for me at present is recovering from the pandemic. Online services provide a great way to reach people across the nations, however, virtual services have made people very comfortable with not gathering in person. To combat that, I continue to trust God and partner with other ministries.
There are so many testimonies that I could share. I’ll start with the beginning of my call. I was raised under a different doctrine: one that didn’t allow me to know Jesus Christ in His full deity. I’ve been in ministry since I was a young girl. The difference is the message I once carried pulled people away from Christ. That same religion also advocated marriage. It was talked about so much that I thought being married was a mandate from God. Losing my mother in my early twenties also meant losing myself. On what seemed like an endless journey to find a mate, I was left even more wounded and broken. One evening, I was hanging out with my then-boyfriend, and clear as day, I heard God speak to me. He was calling me higher. The words he spoke were, “A different harvest.” He told me that He’d chosen me. I had no idea what that meant. But I remember telling my boyfriend that he had to leave. I fell to my knees and cried as I worshipped God. I didn’t have a church home at the time, and all I knew was my former religion. My life seemed interrupted overnight. I stopped dating, going out to clubs and completely surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I’ve been sold out for Him ever since.
As you know, we’re big fans of Emerge Editing & Writing and New Generation House of Prayer. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Since your magazine focuses on business. I’ll share how I started Emerge Editing and Writing. I was laid off in 2008. God was most certainly gracious. Through a turn of events, including surgeries, contract job assignments, and a major car accident, I found myself struggling financially for the next three years. God restored my finances, but I was still dealing with effects from the car accident. The pain was debilitating. I could not return to full-time work. I was able to use the money from the accident to sustain us for a few more years. When it ran out, I was left with nothing. We struggled to eat, but God always provided. I was always a faithful tither and committed to ministry. Right before my home went into foreclosure, I was blessed with an accounting position. I’d utilized a program that was supposed to prevent foreclosure, but when I could no longer pay their fees, they reversed the loan modification. All of this went into effect, before I was blessed with the job. I knew it was God saying no to the house. For whatever reason, the job didn’t come through soon enough. It wasn’t a shock, as God told me in a dream the house would be auctioned. It was hard to let it go, but God didn’t give me any other option. We had to move. My daughter and I moved into a luxury apartment at first, eventually, we had to move in with my cousin. I had a lot of trouble on my job, and it came to an end. What appeared to be a blessing ended up being a nightmare. Again, I found myself back in a financial crisis. It was a very tough season, as people often accused me of secret sin. It is amazing to me that people can never fathom suffering for any Christian; even though we are comforted that God will deliver us, He also told us that the afflictions of the righteous will be many.
Right before that, I was ordained as a pastor. In the middle of starting a church, I lost my job. I forged ahead in faith. I held bible studies in two locations. To supplement my income, I designed websites, logos, and flyers. I used every avenue that I could. I tutored students in accounting, coached after-school dance classes, and continued to have speaking engagements. We were grateful for everyone who aided us financially during that most turbulent time. I published my second book Breaking Generational Cycles and Securing Generational Blessings by this time also. Therefore, I was also promoting and selling my products. Even with the money I was able to secure, it wasn’t enough to move my daughter and I into a place of our own. To keep our spirits lifted and our vision in front of us, we’d stop by open houses on weekends and looked at apartments. We knew God would restore us. I consistently spoke faith to my daughter and kept her encouraged. My tears were never visible to the eyes of others.
During our struggle, my cousin began having financial issues of her own, we eventually moved in with another relative and slept on floors and air mattresses, but we never complained. We had to sell all our furniture, appliances, and televisions that were in storage to pay bills and help wherever we lived. Sadly, this season also meant losing people that I loved. They either walked away from me, or I walked away from them. Either case, it was God causing the separation. I’ve learned when a season ends, to allow things to take their course. Living with others is a challenge of its own. It was a humbling experience.
A little backdrop on writing: I received numerous awards for writing in school and often edited and ghostwrote books for free. It’s just a passion of mine. One day sitting in the bedroom in my cousin’s home, I was praying about my next steps, and a friend sent a copy of his previously edited manuscript. He was delighted about what he’d written. Not only did I notice errors, but I noticed the tone in which he conveyed his story. I asked him if I could bless him. I rewrote a few chapters, and he was overwhelmed by the prophetic healing that he received just reading what God gave me to write. I was able to take his words and express his heart in a way that would not only tell a story but bring enlightenment, healing, and deliverance to the men who would read it. Being able to tap into the heart and soul of a man was a gift. No one reading his book could tell it was ghostwritten by a woman. I knew then that God was breathing on the gifts and talents He’d given me as a prolific writer and scribe. Emerge Editing & Writing was born. A year and half later, God completely restored everything that we had lost!
Emerge Editing & Writing offers complete publishing packages at reasonable prices, with great payment plan options.
New Generation House of Prayer is currently holding virtual services. We are excited about our upcoming in-person services this summer. We believe the Bible is the final authority. We are a bible-teaching, prophetic, and deliverance ministry.
What matters most to you? Why?
I’ll explain what matters to me most in business and in life. In business, it would be a combination of integrity and excellence. I believe integrity should be the cornerstone for every business and excellence the benchmark for sustainability and success. What matters most to me in life is pleasing God, offering the salvation of Christ to everyone I meet, building legacy, and exhibiting wholeness, so that future generations know that it is possible.
