Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Morris.
Hi Mark, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My wife, Lisa, and I decided to start our own business in 2017. Texas Sign Craft. a commercial sign manufacturing company was born out of that decision. Lisa is a full-time pharmacist and supports Texas Sign Crat with strategic planning and marketing while I operate the business full-time.
Our philosophy and values guide us in our business:
Respect ourselves,
Respect our co-workers
Respect our clients
Respect our community
Respect the environment
At Sign Craft, we truly value our relationships with our clients as well as with our suppliers and our local community. Our mission is not just to sell a sign made of metal, plastic, and wood; we take pride in helping our clients find solutions that deliver their unique message in the most effective manner.
We pride ourselves on listening. Every organization, including corporations, non-profits, houses of worship, schools, and government entities, has a need to communicate its message. Messages for marketing, motivation, inspiration, direction, warning, and inclusion. Through listening to our clients, we gain an understanding of their needs, the audience they wish to reach, and the message they wish to convey so we can provide cost-effective solutions that achieve their goals. And give their message its voice. A voice that can influence the audience to act, to respond to their message.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I do not believe starting and running a small business is ever smooth; there are always challenges and struggles. For Texas Sign Craft, we have had our share as well. One of the biggest challenges is how to get noticed, how to gain clients, and how to get brand awareness. These may all sound different, but they are all part of marketing. These activities are key to growing the business to the point of profit.
Another huge challenge is staffing with qualified personnel. Every business needs personnel who either know the industry or can be trained to perform the tasks required.
Operating a business in the past few years has included a major challenge for all businesses, great and small. The global pandemic has created supply chain issues, inflation, personnel shortages, and extreme uncertainty that surpasses most eras. Texas Sign Craft has certainly seen our share of issues due to COVID.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Texas Sign Craft?

I enjoy spending time outdoors. I find nature very calming and beautiful, and seeing the natural beauty of the oceanfront or a mountain top makes me happy.
