Meet Monique Roberson of MoGlamorous Boutique & MoGlamorous Xperience

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Roberson.

Hi Monique, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my boutique business July 15, 2019, and my hair business in 2022. I had been wanting to make and sell clothes and do hair since I was little girl, I love fashion. My sister Montoya and I was 12 years apart, but I use to dress and do her hair when she would want to go out with her friends, she always call me her fashionista. My sister died May 10, 2015 (Mother’s Day) and I felt like my world was incomplete, I lost half of me because she practically had raised me. In the midst of her death, I was in an abusive relationship, found out I was pregnant, end up having a miscarriage and had to move to protect me and my son who was 3 years old at the time, and get a protection order, it was a lot. I battle with depression and anxiety really bad and even suffer with self-esteem issues. So, once I had move to Lafayette, Louisiana I felt like I was getting back to myself, but I knew then I wanted to be my own boss. I moved back to Texas in 2018 and started doing my own research on how to start a boutique business and I just went from there. I got my business name from me and my sister first initials and just added Glamorous. The reason for that because I believe every woman is beautiful and glamorous. When I’m battle with my depression I like to dress up, put my make-up on and do my hair and then I start to feel better because I’m looking better. I’m not looking like what I’m going through so I feel every woman that purchase anything from me, she should feel her best, look good, boost her confidence, and know she is glamorous.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh no!!! I had been scammed when I very first started and went through so many different logos, learning about business credit because I didn’t know nothing about it; I was using my own money from my job. I had chargebacks from customers saying they didn’t receive they package, and they did, and I shown proof and still had to deal with the chargeback. Gotten merchandise that didn’t look like the pictures, or shipping was delayed.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about MoGlamorous Boutique & MoGlamorous Xperience?
MoGlamorous Boutique is a women’s boutique we sell clothes, lashes. Sunglasses, plus-size clothes, and little girls’ clothes. MoGlamorous Xperience is my hair business. I specialize in Locs, natural hair and etc. I’m mostly known for doing locs.

What set me apart from others with my boutique I offer delivery service (locally), if a customer put a request in for certain clothing piece, I’ll go look for it and get it and let them know. With the hair side, I accept same-day appts; I even work after hours and travel to do my clients’ hair.

I’m proud that my brand has a meaning and purpose. I love to see my clients/customers smiling and tagging and sending me pictures. It makes me feel good to see they looking good and feeling good.

In the future, I am looking into putting my boutique and salon together under one building, even have a bar because I do sell alcohol drinks on the side w/ food. I love to cook, so I would love to offer those services. I would like more brand ambassadors and to get my business known worldwide, not just in the United States but overseas too. I want the readers to know MoGlamorous is build to make yourself feel good, look good, and to know you are glamorous no matter if you feel any different. You are glamorous, but over here, you are MORE GLAMOROUS

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I’m going to own my own brick and motor boutique and hair salon. I want it to be a one-stop shop, even with a bar either inside or next to it. “MoBuzz” is the name of my drink business. I would also like to open a restaurant name it after my sister because I love to cook and she was my biggest support in anything I put my mind into especially when it came to me cooking. I would love to open in two or three other states and be well-known. I plan on giving back around the holidays and want to dress and help abusive women and kids in shelters.
