Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Fowler.
Hi Jackie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started on this content creator journey at the beginning of 2020. I really wanted something to do because, well, no one was going anywhere or doing anything. I didn’t see much representation for plus-size women on social media, and wanted to change that. I started documenting my daily outfits for work since I was still working in an office. I started sharing my day-to-day life and was open about my anxiety, and wanted to connect to people on a personal level by being vulnerable. I have since started a blog and working with brands.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but nothing ever is. I started and stopped a few times because of self-doubt. I didn’t have the confidence that I needed to post certain content or to put myself out there. I’ve had to learn that not everyone is going to agree with me and that not everyone is going to “approve” of me, and that’s ok.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a loan processor by day. I love what I do. I get to help people behind the scenes and make applying for and being approved for a loan a positive experience. I When I’m not processing loans, I’m finding the best deals on things from plus size clothing to creating looks for my community to mimic to sharing my tips and tricks in life (which we all need from time to time).
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
That no one is perfect. No one you see on Instagram or TikTok is perfect. They may look like they have it all together, but I promise you they don’t. Everyone has their own issues. Everyone has their own struggles. Don’t compare yourself to others. It will drive you crazy… trust me…
