Check Out John Barajas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Barajas.

Hi John, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I got into the cheerleading industry over ten years ago during my sophomore year of high school. I began slowly learning how to develop routines, a process for athlete development, safety, and skill progression. As time progressed, I was getting asked by other colleagues to travel and create their own routines. 2016 I started with twenty clients and have since traveled coast to coast creating choreographed routines for both cheer and dance teams throughout the United States.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The beginning was pretty smooth, but things took quite a turn during the pandemic. I was unsure if I could travel again or be around other athletes, what the sport was going to be like if things got back to “normal.” Financially struggled on how to be present and relevant still, once things improved bookings and travel became easier again, but I still am trying to recover from the pause.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in choreography for competitive cheer and dance teams. I customize each experience to be legendary and memorable for the athletes while being educational to help them excel for the upcoming season. I make it my purpose to be present. communicate throughout the year, share accomplishments on social media, and additional visits for upgrades. Currently, I have won ten state championships and fifty-five national titles.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like that the city makes you feel present. Nobody is rushed or in a hurry; you can live in the moment. Least favorite part is absolutely the traffic!
