Today we’d like to introduce you to Abdul Qadir.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been working as a makeup artist since 2014. Ever since I started doing makeup, I found that my craft was really appreciated by clients and I was receiving positive feedback. Since starting, I was quickly connected with well known and popular salons in Pakistan. I worked in several areas like tv, fashion shoots, bridal makeup, and fashion shows all over my country which then turned into me providing my makeup services all our the world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, this profession was full of challenges for me because at the time, when starting my career as a makeup artist, my family, friends, and society didn’t exactly support me because they felt was not the right profession for a male but I never gave up and I proved them all wrong. My mentor Saba Ansari (Sabs) always pushed and supported me to follow my passion.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work as a professional makeup artist in the greater Houston area now. The best thing about being a makeup artist is that I help people feel good about themselves and boost their confidence. I love how you can instantly tell when people are feeling themselves after their makeup is done. They look more in the mirror, their eyes light up, and they’re stature straightens. My work is for everyone and I take great pride in it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think luck played a small role in launching my career, however I feel that when you give 100% dedication and passion into something and work hard towards your goals, nothing is unattainable. You can achieve anything you put your heart and soul into. A support system is definitely helpful and I am so lucky to have one consisting of all my clients.
