Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Sever.
Hi Rachel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started photography in college. I LOVED it! I’ve always been artsy and loved creating. I’ve also always loved working with people and investing in their stories.
I started photography full-time in 2019, after stepping away from a full-time job to set my own hours. I was excited to branch out and let my creativity guide me. I wanted to take more time to truly invest in people and let that be my ministry. Life is short, it’s important to really cherish each moment!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road is never easy. If it’s easy, you’re not doing it right. I’ve been faced with some pretty serious medical issues along this journey while owning my own business.
I believe it’s all part of my testimony. On the other hand, I’ve branched out into areas of photography that I didn’t expect to be in. I’ve started real estate photography and do lots of events. I love both. I truly love people, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to do what I do.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a natural light photographer. I specialize in families, seniors, newborns, and maternity. I also absolutely love real estate photography.
My husband and I have renovated a few homes, so we definitely enjoy design and remodeling work. Being able to go into multiple different homes and explore different styles is so motivating to me. One other area that I seem to thrive in is events! I do lots of award ceremonies, ribbon cuttings, baptisms, parties, homecomings, etc.
I love to capture people enjoying life and being in their moment. That truly brings me joy!! I’m proud of myself for starting this journey and persevering through some tough medical stuff! There’s no way I could have done it without my family’s support. I think what sets me apart, is my true love for people. My desire is to capture each person’s raw emotions and let every session be a great experience. If I can do that, then I feel I can call it a success!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was always on the go! I was and still am a people person. I like to talk to others, invest in others, work hard, do my best, explore, and adventure.
I danced from age three on. Once I graduated, I started teaching dance and stayed in that field for 17 years. Creativity and the arts have always been part of my life.
