Today we’d like to introduce you to Linh Dang.
Hi Linh, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I think my story may be worth your time because I think it can be somewhat inspiring and motivate the youth.
My name is Linh Dang. I graduated from Missouri State University with my Bachelor’s and MBA about 10 years ago. I moved to Houston, TX to pursue my career dream, and after applying for over 150 jobs that led to no good end results. I have worked in a lot of industries to make my end living and to motivate myself to never give up. I have worked in restaurants, small start-ups, dental offices, event planning companies, apartments leasing, e-commerce, etc.
I came into the construction business by coincidence. My friend decided to open his own residential roofing company and offered me a job to help him start. So I joined using my experience and constantly learned about this industry myself from the start. I created a working system and was mainly in charge of the entire operations of the new company. Our first 1/2 year produced over 1 million in revenue with a team of less than 6 people despite the very high competition in Houston.
After a couple of years, there was an opportunity for me to start my own business with the help of a new manager from my old company so I discussed it with the owner who wanted to retire and purchase his tangible assets. I requested to bring my intangible asset to start my new company and he totally accepted.
Lavalion Roofing & Home Services was published then. Being a minority business owner in many aspects (race, gender, industry, etc.) is NOT easy. I got into a new business in a MALE-dominant industry; I already faced several obstacles besides other startup difficulties.
We constantly improve our techniques and operations to create a system that not only utilizes modern technology but is effectively automated. We work with clients to assist them with insurance claims and educate what benefits they can get. We worked with insurance companies in harmony to assist clients and acted in clients’ best interests.
Our team unexpectedly grew in double in the first year and had revenue of over $700,000. It is not a lot, but we tried our best to stay competitive.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My road to success has definitely not been smooth. I faced several obstacles and struggled after graduating from my university. Some of the struggles were being an immigrant who came to the States without strong financial support and family. I learned everything from experience and failures to be where I am today.

Our business was published a few years ago. We have never stopped growing despite of COVID-19 Pandemic and the current economic situation. We mainly offer residential roofing and other home upgrades and repairs services. We are known to be a young, knowledgeable, ethical, and enthusiastic group of young professionals who have years of combined experience and industrial backgrounds.
We utilize the knowledge and modern technology to stand out from all other contractors out there. Our customer service aspect is phenomenal. My background in marketing helped me build my own brand in so many creative ways possible with the help of my team. We strive to connect different local businesses and entrepreneurs to work together. We even partner up with other contractors who are our competitors to work together on projects.
We want the readers to know that technology nowadays, it makes people easier to connect with one another and provides more access to homeowners to understand their lives. Our mission is to bring out the best in everyone and to connect to create bigger success and benefits for everyone.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I wanted to study abroad since I was 6, and I never stopped thinking about that till I turned 17. My will was really strong that I would go around telling everyone about my dreams and had sticky notes everywhere telling myself “I will go to study abroad ONE DAY. I WILL”
