Life & Work with Christina Jusu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Jusu.

Hi Christina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Creations By Crissy started as a kid; I used to sit next to my grandma with my barbie doll and watch her as she braided the hair of the kids in the neighborhood. In middle school, I would go to the braiding shop on weekends to braid. Once I was in high school, I enrolled in the cosmetology program, which I was in for 2 years, I went to the cosmetology state board, which I passed and received my license, and honestly, the rest was history. I have been doing hair ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road? This industry has its ups and downs, but all those challenges are taken as lessons to improve and become better. The hair industry is ever-changing, having to learn your niche and what your specialty is can be a challenge. You have to work in different areas to find out what you are good at and sometimes it takes a while. But I see that as a good thing, because even though you are working and learning to find your niche, you still get to learn other skills that you are still able to use.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Professionally, I am a cosmetologist, but I specialize in braiding. I love to braid; I believe it is a form of art and a way to be creative.

I can honestly say that I am proud of how far I have come with my business and how much it has grown over the years, and that I will have so much more left to accomplish. It has been days when I felt like giving up, but hair is my passion and love, and that is something I can’t see myself giving up.

I believe what sets me apart from others is that I am not afraid to try new things. There is always a new trend in the hair industry, and I am always learning to keep myself updated and educated.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit?
The qualities or characteristic that is most important to my success, I would say, is the eagerness to always want to learn, patience, and perseverance. For me, these characteristics play a major factor in my success. You need patience when you are learning and growing in your skills, and you need perseverance to always push yourself when things aren’t smooth or when you hit a bump on the road.
