Rising Stars: Meet Annie Cole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie Cole.

Hi Annie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Most children play sports or instruments when they’re little, but I made videos! I started posting YouTube videos when I was nine years old. It was the perfect outlet for me to be creative and authentic. My following grew gradually over time, with lots of hard work and sleepless nights. Most people that meet me say, “You’re the same in real life than who you portray in your videos!” I’ve always known that being my individual, unique self was the only way to success. To this day, I am 17 years old. I am a content creator, social media manager with my older sister’s company, songwriter, and photographer!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have faced many challenges within my journey. Stolen ideas, influencer gossip and a damaged reputation, view fluctuations, and many more. But throughout the hardships, I’ve always known not to run away. I love the social media industry, and no matter where you are, you will come into contact with brokenness. The grass is never greener; it’s just a different set of challenges.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My 7 and a half years of content-creating experience has lead me to find other areas of social media that I love. I’m a social media manager and photographer for my sister’s social media management company. My daily life consists of conversations with clients about their brands, researching the latest trends, photo and video editing, all while managing my own personal social media! Being on social media for so long, there’s nothing I can’t relate to. I’ve learned how to problem-solve, readjust to unexpected hiccups, and deal with discouragements. As a social media manager, my goal is to not only deliver high-quality content to you but is to help inspire, support you, and remind you the WHY behind your personal brand.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The thing that helped me best when I struggled with discouragement was reminding myself of the WHY. Why did I start posting? For me, it was always because I just liked doing it. No other hobby or job provides for me the freedom that social media provides. I love making my content cohesive and beautiful, communicating my thoughts about lifestyle and routine, and showing the sweetest details of this wonderful life. For example, I get to plan a colorful photoshoot, photograph it the way I want, edit it and make it align with the vision I had, post it and talk with my audience online, and call it work! For you, it may be a budget goal to help you in other areas of your life, to document important memories, to help educate or, like me, just because you love it. Remind yourself of the ‘why’ behind your posting, and it will always pick you up off your feet.
