Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Nicole Gates. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Dr. Nicole Gates is the VP of University Advancement for Strategic Growth Leaders Bible University for the Houston, Memphis, and Atlanta campuses; a faith-driven serial entrepreneur, Dr. Gates’ passion is serving budding and seasoned entrepreneurs through education and training opportunities.
Dr. Gates began her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 16, venturing into the event planning space and eventually becoming a certified event planner, which she has enjoyed now for more than 30 years. Dr. Gates now dedicates her time, talent, and treasure to helping others pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and aspirations. Dr. Gates has a strong passion for building a firm foundation for Black, Indigenous people, and people of color.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many obstacles and challenges that Dr. Gates has had to overcome, from being a single mother of 4 daughters, after 16 years of marriage having to make a way out of no way on many occasions just to make ends meet to becoming a community advocate, business development consultant, community connector and now VP of University Advancement.
Dr. Gates’s biggest challenge has been not having a support system when first starting in business to having to become a catalyst for change in the entrepreneurial space. Dr. Gates now lives by the scripture, “To whom much is given, much is required” Luke 12:48
We’ve been impressed with Strategic Growth Leaders Bible University, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Strategic Growth Leaders Bible University is revolutionizing education by bringing the concept of implementation to a whole new level nationwide via a step-by-step, hands-on learning approach both online and in-person. SGLU offers degrees in Biblical Studies, Christian Entrepreneurship, and Christian Media taught by industry experts, with an emphasis on implementation.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Dr. Gates credits the Covid-19 Crisis for allowing her to get laser-focused on how she wanted to make an impact on her community and in the lives of the entrepreneurs that she coaches. Many opportunities came out of the pandemic, and Dr. Gates used these opportunities to build a solid foundation and take what she could offer to the next level. Being the VP of University Advancement is one way she will be able to put all of her gifts and talents to work in one place.
