Today we’d like to introduce you to Meaghan Ledet.
Hi Meaghan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started my cosmetology career 10 years ago; I always loved doing everyone’s hair and making them feel better and happy. I’ve always had a passion for color and styling hair. I entered a social media contest in 2012 for a scholarship to regency beauty institute; unfortunately, I didn’t win the full amount because the contest was based on the amount of likes your post received, but I still received a scholarship because they loved my work so much and wanted me to attend their school and from there, I have been so in love with the beauty industry. I started working under two big salons from 2013-2015 and decided to open up my only salon suite in 2015 and started building Love is N the Hair. I recently in February 2023 opened up Love is n the hair Salon, where we booth rent and have stylist working there as well.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. In 2015 when I decided to go solo and open a salon suite, I knew I had money saved, but I had no idea how hard it was going to be to run a business on my own. I knew this is what I wanted and I wanted so I continued to work extra jobs to be able to afford the salon suit and build my clientele. 2018 I was able to focus on my career and have that as my main job as business continued to grow, which luckily was blooming well because in 2020 due to covid we were not able to work for two months and lost a lot of clients due to everything that was going on. I was also able to start building newer clientele after the pandemic because people were focusing more on self-care, and love is n the hair is all about making feeling feel better about themselves loving the way they look and feel. And with the new clients built from after the pandemic, I was able to open love is n the hair salon in 2023
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in color services from balayage, highlights to vivid colors. I also do a lot of styles and updos for events such as prom, weddings, and quinceneras. I also attended New York fashion week in February 2020.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Love is n the hair has been having other stylist or salons rent out either a station at the salon for a day or rent out the salon when we are not in regular business hours. We are accepting new clients at the salon for anyone looking for color, haircut, or styles. We are hiring new stylist that want to work in a team environment.
