Hi Derek, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved coffee. The smell, the taste, the energy; all of it. Being a U.S. Marine myself, I used to buy almost exclusively from Black Rifle Coffee. They blew up, and I started to feel their customer service and coffee both started going down. I had a bad order experience, and they were no help. This was my catalyst for change.
In mid-2022, I decided to just go for it, and Guardian Coffee Company was born. We are a small fish in a massive ocean, but our customer service still stands out amongst our peers. Our coffee is as fresh as you can find, and it has kept our growth steady over the last year or so. There are a handful of great companies in the “Veteran Coffee” niche, but here at Guardian, we strive to be 100% sure you feel like you are part of the family.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth? Hardly. Rewarding? Absolutely. The coffee market is one of the largest in the world. You can’t just step into this arena and expect to have floor seats anytime soon. We were blessed with a handful of great reviews early on, placing much higher than some significantly larger companies. This gave us a large bump in initial sales. After all, our coffee is truly amazing. Our customer service is also spot on, so folks come back over and over. The road has smoothed over a bit compared to a year ago, but we are learning as we go. I would say the largest obstacle we have faced is the sheer number of competitors, but we are proud to be adding new Customers every day as we plant our flag in the coffee kingdom.
