Daily Inspiration: Meet Jasmine Keys

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Keys.

JASMINE KEYS
Jasmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started off my first business  right before the pandemic hit selling lip-gloss in the Hammond, La, and started a virtual site on Etsy set up to give customers the opportunity to purchase wholesale to start their lip-gloss business. I reached over 400 sales on my shop by just helping others purchase inventory from my shop. However, I started selling swimsuits and inspired designer items such as houseware, men and woman clothing, and accessories. My designer business took me off to my adventures of hosting events such as pop-up shops where vendors would come together and sell items from their small business. During the pandemic, I also searched YouTube and learned how to make resin crafts. I’ve made over 50 freestyle sets. I moved to Houston about 2 years ago and have started tax preparation services, and I have reached 100 clients our first year of filing tax returns. I am excited to be new to Houston, gaining others’ trust for long-term relationships. I’ve also branched out and started a passion I’ve had since a little girl; which is cooking. The support I’ve gotten from North Side Southside and all over Houston has been amazing!!! We are now featured on Doordash as a Private Home Chef Called NolaDat_ thankful for the new people I’ve met the lessons, and the blessings. 6 months into me residing, I’ve hosted a large pop-up shop in Humble, Texas. I brought my vendors from back where I’m from (Kenner, La) to join us in Houston to network. I’ve networked with numerous of vendors from Louisiana through Houston, Texas; I’ve also picked up a travel agent business and have a business partner. My goal is to help people become confident and give them courage and hope. Life is what you make it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy road staying in business and juggling multiple jobs at once to make sure you get your promotion views for the day. Balancing different businesses is hard with no immediate support or staff. I’ve tried it, but I’ve struggled with keeping people who was totally for my business. Working for other people as well made me realize I can do it myself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a private chef. A tax consultant, a travel agent, a resin artist, and event host. I sell inspired designer items, and I cater and sell my food menu on door dash. I’m known for my spicy spinach dip in Houston and my Superdome nachos with all the toppings. I’m also known for always keeping a hustle on my side with networking entrepreneurship. I’m different from others because I am motivated and inspired by a host of famous influencers I grew up with to not give up. Always push your dreams. You can do it.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
I would look at risk-taking and ask myself, “How bad do you want this, Jasmine?” When I do come up with an idea in my head. I’ve taken risk doing a few events and going over my budget and also spending more in inventory and not accomplishing many wells. In the end , Good or Bad . Everything still worked out . Don’t knock it until u try it is my favorite motto .
