Conversations with Firas El-Shakshir

Today we’d like to introduce you to Firas El-Shakshir.

Firas El-Shakshir

Firas, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, my name is Firas, aka Fee, and we are the Weird Kids. I started working with my brother Saddiqy, also known as Saddiqythenyeguy, in 2013. During that time, we primarily created parody videos for YouTube and operated as a social group formed by friends. As the videos began to gain traction, I decided to challenge our artist by encouraging him to create original music, which ultimately led to the launch of his music career. Before long, we started generating significant streams on various streaming platforms and even had the opportunity to open for major artists.

Due to the success we achieved with our own artist, we made the decision to expand our services and offer our skills to talented individuals from all over Houston. As a result, we have collaborated with over 200 artists and helped generate over 500 million views on YouTube. Throughout the years, our team has undergone significant changes, and currently, our team comprises the following members:

– Fee (myself): Founder/CEO

– Danilson aka Dsonvsthemob: CCO/Artist

– Ala: Fashion Designer/Artist

– Saddiqy: Artist

– Tflu: Artist

– Iman: Artist

– Attoy: Artist

– Gerald: Artist

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
“With our limited access to media companies in Houston, it has been a constant struggle to reach the point we are at today. My team and I have encountered numerous challenges and setbacks along the way. One of the most disheartening aspects has been the disappointment and empty promises from individuals within the music industry who initially showed interest in collaborating with us. Nevertheless, we can proudly say that regardless of where we end up, we have achieved our success independently. Pursuing a dream is never easy, but having the support of friends makes it bearable.”

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a videography and creative director

I specialize in music videos and short films

I am known around Houston as the go-to guy for music videos

I am most proud of my work ethic

What sets me apart from others is that I’m not doing this for fame or fortune. I’m doing this because I cannot live without this art form.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
“In the next 5 years, I see Weird Kids becoming the biggest media conglomerate in the south. We would love to expand into other sectors outside of entertainment and help companies and organizations in Houston reach their full creative potential. We have a lot of unique and fun ideas that can resonate with a younger audience.”
