Hi Stan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Miami, Florida, then relocated to Las Vegas, beginning my career in elevator construction. After mastering that trade, I took my skills to Houston to start an on-site mobile detailing company. A1 Mobil Fleet Wash & Detail Service has provided commercial cleaning support services to customers locally and regionally for over 10 years; however, our customers knew that we could add value in more ways than just vehicle washing. Through a series of special requests and incredible opportunities, our facility support division Facility Services Group was created. We recognized that building owners and property management teams welcomed the notion of one proven vendor who could address issues and trust to get the job done professionally and economically. We take great pride in our work and have earned a solid reputation of ensuring our customers’ properties /equipment always project a clean professional image, meet city regulations, and will always be a source of pride for the owners. We hold HUB, City of Houston- (M/W/DBE), SBE, ACDBE, and Hire Houston First certifications. I’ve also been able to make great business connections with my active memberships in the National Association of Minority Contractors, Metro Interagency Mentorship Protégé Programs, and Houston Minority Supplier Development Council, which has led to great contracts and relationships with companies like HCTRA, Port of Houston Authority and Harris Health Systems. I have been blessed to expand my reach with another endeavor, Prime Elevator Corp, to give clients a well-rounded network of maintenance services, including elevator support really bringing my career full circle.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not! Managing a skilled and reliable workforce is essential but can be challenging. Hiring and retaining qualified technicians and supervisors, providing ongoing training, and ensuring efficient scheduling are crucial for successful operations. The expertise and qualifications of your maintenance team can be a significant differentiator. Also, scaling a facility maintenance business requires careful planning, investment, and strategic decision-making. Expanding services, entering new markets, or handling growth-related challenges can pose difficulties. Luckily, I have been blessed with mentors, business partners, and a great team to support these challenges.
