Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Cervantes.
Hi Laura, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I relocated from Mexico in 1990 as a US Resident with many goals in mind. At the age of 21, I got to live in Houston, Texas, and started taking courses at UH-Downtown. Working full time at the time and taking college classes made me stronger and capable of multitasking. Becoming bilingual also made me see the world in a different way. I was attracted at a very young age to music and the entertainment business. I can remember that from a young age, I always tried to attend concerts and tv shows, reading magazines, and learning about artists and singers. I was able to work for various companies that utilized my talents and passion for entertainment in Houston. Lastly, I have always loved to give back to my community, and as a mother of a girl, I have volunteered for 5 different Non-Profit Organizations. It is great to help others, just as I myself received help in the past.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve lived different stages of my life where my efforts to work and study have become strong, but my desire to learn much more has become stronger. It’s been challenging at times; however, it has made me a better person.
