Agui Cuaresma

Hi Agui, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi everyone! Nice to meet you. I am the owner of Positive Pix Photo Booth and this is my story. It all started a few years back when I stumbled upon the idea of starting a photo booth business. I’ve always been fascinated by capturing memories and creating fun experiences for people. So, I thought, “Why not turn this passion into a business? At first, I had no clue on running a business or even what to call it. After some time and immense thought, “Positive Pix Photo Booth” became my business. I researched online, watched tutorials, and learned the basics of photo booth equipment and operations. It was definitely a trial-and-error process. To get more insights, I reached out to fellow photo booth entrepreneurs. Many were really generous with their advice and shared their experiences, which helped me avoid some common pitfalls. Their guidance was priceless. They didn’t see me as competition. They saw me as an opportunity to give back to an up-and-coming photo booth business because someone had helped them during their beginning stages. Building connections and relationships played a significant role in my journey. I networked at family gatherings and even on social media. Slowly but steadily, I started gaining traction and bookings. I actively marketed my services, created an online presence, and made sure potential clients knew about my business through Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Over time, Positive Pix Photo Booth grew, and expanded to cater to various events throughout the Greater Houston area. It wasn’t an overnight success, but through persistence, hard work, and consistency, I reached where I am today – a proud owner of a thriving photo booth business, capturing smiles and making memories for people on their special occasions.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Besides the learning curve of teaching yourself something new, deciding to go against the direction of your culture and making your own path was certainly an obstacle. My family and relatives are all healthcare professionals so there was a strong expectation for me to pursue a similar career path. It was natural for them to emphasize putting more attention on what I got my degrees in rather than spending time on a hobby like photo booths. In any case, I knew they needed results to believe in my vision, so I gladly took on the challenge. Staying positive, I kept pushing forward, reminding myself why I started this business and the joy it brought to people. After seeing many events on social media and in person, my family and relatives started believing in my business and supporting Positive Pix Photo Booth.
