Meet Dr. Esohe Faith Ohuoba

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Esohe Faith Ohuoba.

Dr. Esohe Faith Ohuoba

Hi Dr. Ohuoba, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I quickly realized that women health was more than a passion, but a calling when each day I felt the privilege and honor to guide women at their most vulnerable state to a level of wellness. I could partner with women to help them achieve a healthier state and version of themselves. Initially, I actually thought I was going to be a pediatrician; little did I know that I would be delivering the babies instead! My exposure to places like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the NIH all shaped my belief that wellness requires lifestyle medicine and balance of mind, body, soul, and spirit. This led me extend past being a physician, and I became a certified life coach with the John Maxwell Leadership Team. Since then, I have done keynote addresses, virtual workshops and now launching online courses and personal coaching.

However, at my foundation, I am an obstetrician-gynecologist who currently is on the frontlines of advancing maternal health and birth equity. Texas has daunting statistics regarding maternal mortality. I am optimistic that positive changes can occur but will take innovation, consistency, and reform on many levels believe this is possible.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a practicing surgeon, life coach & medical director has not been a smooth road. I believe when I experienced postpartum pre-eclampsia my dedication to a lifestyle of balance and wellness was amplified. I quickly lost weight (yes 30 lbs!), prioritized, and stayed aligned with things that were of purpose. I found that I could relate to many women on both personal and professional levels. My personal story quickly became my message of holistic living, coaching, and optimizing maternal health.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a practicing obstetrician-gynecologist. I specialize in high-risk pregnancies, fertility issues, fibroids, and minimally invasive procedures. I am most proud bringing an innovative surgical technique to my hospital. The Acessa procedure is Laparoscopic Radiofrequency Ablation (Lap RFA) procedure that is same-day treatment of fibroids. I am currently the only physician performing this at my facility.

What sets me apart is that I am empathic, compassionate, and diplomatic. I have the ability to quickly be a source of trust and inspiration for others.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was typically the only girl amongst a large family of boys. I would say this definitely influenced my love for simplicity and health competition. I also grew up in a family that was tight-knit and had a love for philanthropy- this definitely influenced my constant involvement in volunteer and community projects. In addition, I grew up in a faith-based household, where love for Christ, people, and self were instilled.
