Check Out Diamond Capreé ’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Capreé.

Diamond Capreé

Hi Diamond, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve started making original music about seven years ago back in my home state. I’ve learned how to do everything myself due to lack of money for studio time. So, I have learned how to engineer myself, mix, and master my songs. I am also a songwriter, so I write everything I sing. I moved out to Houston, Texas to further my career, see where I’m from. We don’t have a lot of avenues for independent artists, such as festivals, open mics, or any place an artist can showcase their talent, so moving to Houston was a great move for me. I am now able to perform at places I probably would not have living back at home. I get to go to Artists Event, Independent Artists, festivals, have interviews, etc… where I am currently today is building my stage performance in trying to get my name out there to as many people as possible.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I believe that everyone’s journey to be successful in whatever they want to be is never smooth. I don’t think that God gives you an easy road to something you really want. There’s always peaks and valleys to test you to see if this is really what you want in life. Slow success builds character; fast success builds ego. With anything in life, you have to ask yourself do you want to get there fast by taking the highway or do you want to be prepared when you get there by taking the streets. My journey to music was not smooth at all. It’s very challenging, especially being independent, but I love it too much to ever actually give up on it. I believe my journey is supposed to be this way.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an R&B singer, so I love the Neo Souls & the Trap Souls. I am also a huge fan of songwriting. I actually find a lot more enjoyment in writing the song than actually recording it. Writing is such a personal experience. You can literally sum up a story in three or four minutes. I think the challenge is making it catchy and interesting but also true. I find so much enjoyment in coming up with stories that are actually good, and you can listen to them and enjoy it. I’m proud of my songwriting journey because I wasn’t always a great writer. I honed on this gift because I wanted to be better, and I believe over time, I became better. I believe I’m different with writing because, for one, I’m actually telling true stories, and it actually makes sense. I think that a lot of music nowadays don’t really have a storyline. So, I pride myself on writing interesting stories that are true, and even if I write songs that are not true, it’s still catches your attention because the story is so good!

What were you like growing up?
Honestly, growing up was interesting for me. I’m truly an introvert. Even though I have siblings. I was always a standoffish girl. I didn’t like to be around company; I stayed in my room majority of my childhood never really went outside that much. I definitely had a creative mindset when I was younger. I gravitated to music very young now that I am older, and I look back on it. I learned songs extremely quickly when I was younger; I used to write titles of songs I wanted to write to and make the titles very interesting. I loved watching concert films and videos of artists. My parents put me on to great artists when I was younger, so that opened my eyes to really wanting to be an artist. I can definitely say my childhood was good because I got everything I wanted. I did everything child was supposed to do in their youth, so I don’t feel like I missed out on anything.
