Hi Jarvis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in a family heavily involved in ministry. Everyone took part and had a particular job. As a teenager, mine was the keyboardist. Through that, I developed a love for music. Additionally, I was very successful in my academic experience. Though my favorite subjects are mathematics and physics, I greatly admire the history of Africans throughout the diaspora. The history of pre-colonized Africa, its religious practices, and the culture maintained through the trans-Atlantic slave trade are my constant topics of interest and research for me. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to my calling has been challenging because loving people is challenging. For some, “Sankofa” is a stumbling block because it’s a biblical term. For others, the atrocities committed by people in the name of religion have turned them away from the teachings of Christ. What is rewarding is the rebuilding of spiritual relationships with God because he always allows us to come back.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
In the words of J. Cole, “Love yours”. You’ll never be happy or satisfied until you learn how to love the people and resources God has designated for you.
