Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Monarch Talent Solutions, an executive search firm specializing in accounting, finance, and HR, in 2020 after being laid off due to the pandemic. Before the launch of Monarch, I had a combined eight years of experience working for two large staffing firms that helped me gain experience locally and nationally.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is a lifestyle, every day is a challenge, and the road is never smooth. At the beginning of my journey, I struggled the most with finding a balance between work and my personal life. My work became the most important thing in my life and was the priority over everything and everyone. I love everything about what I do, so putting in twelve to sixteen-hour days wasn’t hard for me because I was enjoying every single thing I was involved in. That is until I saw how it negatively impacted my relationship with my husband and immediate family. It’s easy to become obsessed with work when you’re determined to succeed and unwilling to quit. However, if you can’t enjoy yourself and partake in life outside of work, is all the hard work and long hours worth it if you’re sacrificing the love of your family for it? It’s not!
Finding a mentor from my industry and surrounding myself with like-minded people allowed me to have a network to go to with work struggles and questions and freed up my family from constantly having to hear me talk only about work. Instead, I created a separation so that family time became just that, and everyone, including myself, became much happier overall with my new lifestyle as an entrepreneur.

We are on a mission to put humanity back into hiring through empathy, honesty, and integrity. Recruiting has a reputation for being very transactional, but at Monarch, we are striving to reinvent the recruiting industry by being relatable and focusing on building long-lasting relationships with both our candidates and clients.
What sets us apart from other recruiting firms is our size. We are a boutique firm, and our competitors are massive compared to us. However, our size is our superpower and allows us to be laser-focused on all of our searches and very hands-on with our clients and candidates throughout the entire process from start to finish. We have the ability to be flexible and creative and have grown quickly due to our motto that relationships always come first.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory was riding bikes with my sisters and cousins all over the streets of Haverhill, MA, and not having a cell phone! We were always present and had few distractions while riding our bikes around our city. We all had vivid imaginations and stayed innocent as kids for a long time. I think about those days often because my generation appears to be the last generation that played in the streets until the lights came on. We were able to remain kids and enjoy our childhood longer than kids get to these days due to the invention of social media and the accessibility of cell phones.
