Today we’d like to introduce you to Warren Wright.
Hi Warren, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Believe it or not, I started my undergraduate career as a pre-nursing major and quickly shifted gears to pursue psychology. I obtained my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Georgia Southern University. I received my B.S. in Psychology in 2016 and my M.Ed. in Counselor Education with an emphasis on clinical mental health counseling in 2018. I am a doctoral candidate at Sam Houston State University in the Department of Counselor Education and will graduate in December 2023. My counseling experience includes college counseling and private practice. I own my private practice, Transformational Counseling, Coaching, & Consulting LLC, where I primarily provide individual counseling to early-career professionals managing work and life stressors.
If I am not seeing clients, I am usually teaching, journaling/creative writing, traveling, or watching reality TV. I am a huge fan of shows like Big Brother, The Challenge, The Circle, Are You The One?, and Too Hot To Handle.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to where I am today has been challenging. One obstacle I encountered was learning how to journey alone without feeling lonely. Being called for a particular purpose, you are the only one who can fulfill that assignment. I constantly have to embrace this as a helper, counselor, and healer. Moving to Texas was a significant example of this. Being away from family on the East Coast felt isolating. However, my community and tribe of people I met here in Texas kept me lifted, encouraged, and motivated to continue the work in transforming people’s mental and emotional health.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas and a national certified counselor. I am the author of A Dose of Motivation: Taking ownership of your life, tapping into your potential, and stepping into your purpose. I view myself as an Architect for Healing and Transformation. I help professional adults who are burned out from work and life stressors implement practices to transform their mental health and wellness so that they can operate at their highest capacity. My work is rooted in a sacred love that is healing-focused. I provide a sanctuary for my clients to feel seen, heard, and held.
Three pillars that guide my work are healing, inspiration, and motivation. I INSPIRE clients to imagine a life free from struggle, harm, and dis-ease. I MOTIVATE clients to disrupt fear by doing something different, to experience something new in their lives. I move clients toward an ongoing liberatory and HEALING-focused life. Everyone has the ability within themselves to overcome obstacles in their lives. I serve as that facilitator for transformation and change.
I utilize a collaborative approach with clients that promotes reflection, connection, and intention—ultimately holding clients accountable to take responsibility for implementing strategies and practices that center their mental and emotional well-being. Together, we co-create an experience that is validating and affirming.
I offer individual counseling services and will begin offering couples/partnered counseling services soon. My coaching services are primarily for individuals wanting to pursue education or a career in the counseling profession. I am also available for mental health and wellness speaking engagements, workshops, and panels.
What’s next?
Things that I am looking forward to in the future are moving my business entirely online, where I will be seeing clients solely through a telehealth platform. This will allow me to enhance my reach and serve as a counselor for more Texas residents. I also plan to graduate with my Ph.D. and pursue a faculty position to train the next generation of counselors. In addition, I want to begin writing my next book!
