Hidden Gems: Meet Amira Hemme of PreciousMemories Photo Organizing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amira Hemme.

Amira Hemme

Hi Amira, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a certified Photo Manager. I have always loved working with photos. I’m the one in our family who created albums from the photos taken.

I was about to retire from my corporate job, in which I had been a manager, business analyst, and project manager over the years. When I heard about Photo Management, I knew immediately that this would be a perfect retirement job for me!

I retired from my corporate job in June 2017. By January 2018, I had become certified, purchased the necessary equipment, and had my first clients.

As a Photo Manager, I scan, enhance, and organize photos, slides, and negatives. I also scan all sorts of photo albums, from the very old ones from the early 1900s to the sticky page albums and sleeved albums.

I can also create photo albums for clients with the images that have been scanned.

I love getting large collections where I learn about families and see children grow to become parents and grandparents.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a solopreneur has posed challenges on the business side – how to get my name out there, how to advertise, how to price my services. I’ve had lots of help from the certifying organization, TPM (The Photo Managers). They have lots of classes ideas and mentors.

We’ve been impressed with PreciousMemories Photo Organizing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have created, owned, and run PreciousMemories since January 2018. I primarily scan, enhance, and organize photos and slides. I also scan photo albums and negatives. Additionally, I can create photo books from the scanned images.

I believe what sets me apart is my customer service and the fact that I offer free pickup and delivery in the Houston and Galveston areas for jobs of $200 or more.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve been a member of TPM (The Photo Managers) since 2017. They offer classes, workshops, and mentors. I’ve also been a member of NAPO Professional Organizers, Houston. I would say that my biggest supporters have been my family.
