Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Vyas.
Hi Anita, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In my life till now, I have wanted to be many things, such as painter, fashion designer, actor, dancer, graphic designer, and so on. I eventually ended up being an instructional designer working with higher education faculty guiding them in best teaching practices, online course design, educational technology tools, and student engagement. Besides being a mother to two lovely grown men, I have also been a Bollywood dance and fitness instructor and performer with Naach Houston for over a decade. I learned how to work with people and movement, did stage production and choreography under the guidance of the artistic director.
Yet, I was still seeking answers to who I am and where I want to be. I have always been curious and intuitive as a child. I would feel people’s energy and gauge if they would harm me or my family in any way. But with the course of life and responsibilities, along with some childhood and adult trauma, I lost that connection to my own self. Till a day came when I found myself unrecognizable in the mirror.
A major injury in 2017 came as a blessing in my life, putting all things into perspective and allowing me to recalibrate the chaos in my life. This injury gave me time and stillness to face all my traumas and come in alignment with the light and dark within me. Thus began my self-seeking journey leading me to pursue yoga, sound healing, energy work, qi gong, and meditation. A silent retreat in early 2022 helped me remember my ‘Antar Brahma’ (inner divine), let go of negativity, and flow towards my true calling. It was an awakening, a source experience that propelled me into understanding myself, my purpose, and my gifts. I became more serious and committed to learning and pursuing sound healing meditation and other holistic practices. I enrolled in the beginner Sound Healer Certification course at Life Changing Energy and over the course of time, finished the expert-level courses. I had been doing complementary sound baths for friends and acquaintances but never thought of sharing the practice with the rest of world despite multiple requests and coaxing from friends.
One evening, on a walk with my dog, I had another source experience when suddenly, the surroundings blurred, and I had a vision for a sound bath meditation small business, the name, the logo, the brand colors, the business plan… I call it ‘the divine download’! I came back home as fast as I could and wrote down everything, and thus on a mundane, warm May evening, Antar Glow was born.
Since then, I have done multiple sound baths for school leadership teams, professional women retreat, at yoga studios, and crystal shops, and promoted my small business at a number of metaphysical fairs. I have felt so grateful to have met many like-minded souls along the way, learned many new things every day, and shared my practice to those who truly need it, and will continue to do so.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
If I look at the big-picture perspective, I feel it has been pretty smooth. I never had a business-minded outlook and never imagined I could own or run a small business. It was truly a leap of faith, which I took without much thought. I always say that it was a divine download and a calling that I could no longer ignore. I just had to do it. And despite having a full-time day job and family responsibilities, I’ve somehow seamlessly been able to promote and share my sound healing and guided meditation practice.
Yes, there have been many self-doubts because I jumped without thinking of where I will land or if the parachute would even open up! But that is the beauty of this journey: when you discover so much about the world around you, about people’s stories, and how you play a part in giving them even an hour of complete relaxation and peace.
I’m a mobile sound healer, which means I often travel to where the need is, such as a yoga studio crystal shop or someone’s home. Sound healing is hard work, both physical and psychological. The singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and other harmonious instruments that I use are heavy and need to be transported back and forth, which requires a bit of muscle. After each session, I have a whole ritual to release any stagnant or negative energy from the instruments and recharge them for the next healing session. Sound healing sessions are also an energy exchange between the healer and the participant. I’ve noticed many times that I feel drained and tired after some sessions, or I absorb some of the pain and anguish of the participant. However, I’m learning to cut those chords and protect my own energy after the sessions.
I feel that struggles are all learning experiences I feel, and the takeaway is well worth it. When I get positive feedback from my clients, I know that I’m on the right path.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
‘Antar’ means interior or within in Sanskrit. And ‘Glow’ is synonymous with light, brightness, and illumination.
Antar Glow literally means Inner Glow or Light.
Antar Glow is committed to sharing the profound healing potential of sound vibrations with individuals and communities. Through the therapeutic power of crystal singing bowls and a diverse range of harmonious instruments, we provide opportunities for individuals and groups to explore the depths of their inner world, tap into their innate resilience, and discover the lasting benefits of sound-induced healing and meditation, leading to enhanced well-being and inner peace. Combination and low and high-frequency sounds and vibrations produced by these instruments have a profound impact on the body, mind, and spirit, helping to induce a state of deep relaxation and promoting healing at a cellular level.
At Antar Glow, I offer individual and group sound healing and meditative flows. Usually, I facilitate 60-minute guided meditations to the sounds and vibrations of singing bowls, gongs, singing pyramids, and other instruments during the sound bath – which means I do speak and use visual imagery for even novice meditators to have some context. To begin, I usually facilitate some simple Qigong flowy movements and breathwork to ease people into a meditative state. And then ask them to lay down or sit or be in a position most comfortable to them while meditating. I do 1:1 session with clients as well and help with chakra alignments and understanding various imbalances in the chakras. My group sessions for Girl’s night-in or birthday sound baths are pretty popular. I also offer team-building meditation sessions for organizations to experience holistic wellness and harmony at the workplace.
What sets Antar Glow apart is the combination of sound healing with ancient Chinese medicine practices such as Qigong and the use of the human voice as a vibrational tool in guided meditations to help the participant go on a transformative healing journey. At Antar Glow, I also require the participants to complete an intake form prior to each session where they outline areas of stress, physical ailments, and other information that they would like to share. This information helps me to tailor the guided meditation to address the issues that the participants have outlined. For example, some of the visual imagery that I talk about in the meditation will connect to participants who want to de-stress from a work or personal situation or move on from a loss. Each meditation session addresses issues that are unique to the individual or group.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a very sensitive and artistic child. I used to paint and dance. My interests have always been varied but always related to the creative fields such as art, music, and dance. I was also painfully shy and couldn’t even bring myself up to speak to the store owner for a box of candy. I felt things very strongly and have always struggled with identity and purpose of who I am, for what am I here. Over the years, I’m become more of an extrovert introvert and have many meaningful friends now. I do get shy in unknown space with unknown people, but I have truly gotten a lot better from how I was as a kid. I’m still more of an observer, and I think that is what helps me in the holistic wellness field.
