Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Schultz.
Hi Meagan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, my name is Meagan Schultz. I’m 21 years old, and I grew up in a small town called Porter, TX. Although this town is constantly growing and expanding with new faces to see, it’s always been an area where everyone knew everyone. For this reason, high school and social settings were always difficult for me. I felt like I was constantly fighting false narratives about the type of person I was, but I knew I served such a bigger purpose in life. I’ve always wanted nothing less than a bright, successful, and meaningful future for myself. The mindset that I’ve always kept so close to my heart has offered me so many amazing opportunities as a teenager and now a young adult. It all started with taking Instagram photos in my backyard with the self-timer option when I was bored. Then, it grew into networking with amazing photographers and other beautiful, confident models. I hope to be seen as an advocate of self-love and confidence as a woman in this generation for many. Modeling is so empowering, and I feel like so many of us forget how beautiful we really are because of unrealistic beauty standards.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life is easy. Everyone has ups and downs; it’s inevitable. Personally, I think the biggest struggle I’ve had has been the journey of figuring out who I really was. Not who other people said I was, not who other people wanted me to be, but who I really was. Who I wanted to be, what I wanted in life. I don’t think people talk enough about how high school and right after graduation can be such a difficult and confusing time. You do so much learning and growing during this period of time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For my career, I am a licensed cosmetologist and aspiring to be duo-licensed as an esthetician as well. My dream is to specialize in skincare and waxing. Then, eventually open up my own salon. I got into this industry because I want to play an important part of helping others feel beautiful and confident. There’s no better feeling in the world than watching someone’s face light up with joy from your artistry. I’m most proud of my hard work and dedication. I’m a go-getter, and if I want something, I go get it.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I would like to give a shoutout to a photographer that I see as my mentor, Christopher Leslie. You can find his work @christopher_leslie on Instagram. He’s played such a big role for me in my late teens and early 20s. Shooting with him has always been such a fun time. His work is absolutely stunning. He always manages to capture me in ways that I use to struggle seeing in the mirror. I give my biggest thanks to him for the amount of confidence he’s helped me grow.
But most importantly, I would like to thank the biggest cheerleaders in my life. My mom, my grandma, my grandpa, and my amazing boyfriend. I’m so fortunate to have people like them in my life who have never given up on me, no matter the circumstances.
