Today we’d like to introduce you to Perla Navarro.
Hi Perla, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello, my name is Perla Navarro; I am a realtor In Texas. Real estate started as a dream since I was young. I always said how cool would it be to help people buy their first homes or sell different unique homes. I was a dreamer of Daca. It was challenging as an immigrant to just leave my 9-5 job to follow my dream. I wanted to work at a secure job or big company. I though it would be more beneficial for my immigration process. I actually bought my real estate course in 2016, and I didn’t start the classes till 2019. I worked as a leasing agent for 3 years. In 2019 I called the Champion School of Real Estate about restarting my course. I spoke to the Mrs. Dorothy the supervisor of the school. She then explained to me that my course was no longer valid because it had been 2 years. I immediately started to cry and felt so disappointed in myself. I couldn’t believe I had let that happen. She said sorry this is happening to you. I said real estate has always been a career that I know I am meant to do. I told her I just don’t have the extra funds to pay for another course. She then said let me see what I can do. I waited in the phone patiently. She finally got back on the phone, and said you will only need to pay for new books since the ones you have are old. I said are you been serious this is such a blessing to me and I really appreciated. After that months went by I was starting some classes than I got offer a Property management position in 2020. I didn’t know how to say no to the job position do to the crisis of COVID I actually felt blessed to get the job. I started working during COVID, so it made it even harder to finish my real estate course. I finish my courses in late 2020. I than needed to do the state exam but was distracted with my new position that I left it for later. I decided I needed to stop making excuses and to stop been afraid of failure. I only had one year from completing my classes to pass my exam. The fear of failure came creeping back to me. In the summer of 2021, I decided I have to go for it. I was doing online practice exams, and I kept failing them all. I study one weekend day and night but I kept during horrible on my practice exams. I had my state exam scheduled on that Monday. I really wanted to reschedule because I felt unprepared, but it was too late. It was the weekend, so the office was closed. I pray about it and decided to take it. I said I have 3 tries is not a big deal. That morning of my exam I woke up late and was rushing to make it to my schedule appointment. While driving there I was so anxious and mad at myself because I was running late and they could cancel my exam. As I am driving I turned the worship Christian radio station to see if that would calm me down. Once I change station the first thing that came on was a Christian speaker that said you will never be ready but God knows when the time is right. When I heard that I literally felt like he was speaking to me and started crying my eyes out. That moment, I felt so much peace. I said God, I trust you. I arrive to the building, and there is no parking. I had to literally park on a handicap with the risk of getting my car towed. Once I enter the building I got greeted by the receptionist, who was super kind. I told her I am sorry for been late. She said it’s ok! I was in shock because I really thought they would cancel my exam. I said thank you so much. I am so nervous. She said just go with your gut and make sure not to doubt your answers, and you will be fine. I felt such peace but couldn’t help to feel a little nervous because of how horrible I had done on all my practice exams. While taking exam I felt very challenged but still didn’t change any answers. I turned my exam I said God is your plan, not mine. The lady said congratulations you passed. I was so happy and I immediately thank God because I knew it had been him helping me with everything. He always wanted to open the door of real estate for me and made it easy for me to accomplish it. The enemy had me blinded and distracted from my calling. I finally was able to go full on my real estate business, and thankfully God has kept his word and provided the way for me to keep helping families achieved homeownership. This was always my calling, and I am glad he always led me to it. I definitely think that working on leasing/property management did help me learn so much about residential. I helped families get into apartments. Today I help families get into their own homes. It’s so rewarding helping people achieve such an incredible goal of owning an investment. I have many other businesses in mind that I am looking to embark in the near future. God willing he opens more doors for me. I thank my family, friends, and past clients for the referrals. I appreciate all the support they give me. “Always available to you.” The Real Perla will continue to be here for all your estate needs.
