Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Tran.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi there! Thank you so much for creating a space to introduce small businesses within the Houston community. I’m Rebecca, a florist living in Houston, Texas, owner of Blooms and Balloons, a floral business that officially bloomed in 2018.
My love for flowers has stemmed from my childhood memories. I vividly remember watching my mother skillfully arrange stunning faux flower arrangements, bringing a sense of serenity and beauty to our family home. Those moments ignited a spark within me, and I knew that I wanted to share the joy and beauty of flowers with others. From celebrating a welcoming of a newborn baby to birthdays, anniversaries, to corporate events, I strive to bring a touch of nature’s beauty into every occasion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To be honest, it wasn’t the best of times when starting Blooms and Balloons, but it was also some of my greatest moments in my life. It was when I had met the most broken version of me and also when I had met the strongest version of me.
I was a first-time mom of 3-month-old boy and living with PPD, and with his father’s job loss before the holidays, I saw an opportunity to generate money for our my family. It was also a motivator to push through years of insecurities and doubts of pursuing my dreams.
Being around flowers and creating arrangements was also therapeutic for me; it was a natural remedy to help alleviate everything I was going through. Blooms and Balloons has made a substancial impact in my life.
Within just two months, my business experienced incredible growth, exceeding my expectations. With rapid growth of Blooms and Balloons, it envitabily came with challenges. Finding the balance of motherhood and running a growing business from
home. I remember it to be like bringing a baby to workday but every day.
I had to quickly establish systems to manage daily operations of a business and also daily tasks and responsibilities of a stay-at-home mom, and oh boy was there definitely moments of chaos.
During the early months of my son’s life into his toddler years, our mornings to early evenings were dedicated to daily flower deliveries. I had many feelings of guilt having majority of my son’s early years on daily long hours of deliveries with diaper changes in the back of the car and feedings in between deliveries, but in these moments is where we would sing songs, practice his alphabets, words, numbers, and math problems. Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for these delivery rides. It’s where I had quality time with my son, and it created our strong bond. Fast forward, he is now five years old and still loves lightning rounds of math problems during car rides and helping with the business.
After completing our deliveries, I would prioritize managing inventories before we headed home to prepare dinner. Once my son was ready for bed, I would dedicate late evenings into the early A.M.s to create arrangements for the following day’s deliveries. There were many sleepless nights, and I eventually realized that this balance was not the healthiest, as it sometimes led to burnout. What helped me push through was remembering what Theodore Roosevelt said, “Nothing worth having comes easy – Endurance.” It has been a journey of growth and self-discovery knowing who I am who I want to continue to strive to be.
Someone that wholeheartedly wants to loves her family and business to fullest while learning it’s okay to give a little grace. Giving a little grace and setting time for self-care was something I failed to do but have come to realize it is so crucial for maintaining a balanced happy mind, body, and soul in return, extended in all I want to give tenfold.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Endurance: I firmly believe in pushing forward, even when faced with challenges that may seem overwhelming. I embrace the unpredictability and find strength in the midst of it all.
Self-care is a much needed. I now understand the importance of taking care of myself physically, mentally, and emotionally. I make it a point to carve out time for self-care amidst the busy schedule of entrepreneurship and motherhood. Whether it’s enjoying a quiet cup of coffee in the morning, enjoying a guilty pleasure of Kdrama, or a relaxing bubble bath at night, self-care helps me recharge and rejuvenate to be the best version of myself for my family and my business.
