Today we’d like to introduce you to Khary Alexcee.
Hi Khary, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m currently Co-Founder of Captiv Studios and President of Captiv Creative. I’ve been led down many paths. After graduating from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a degree in Computer Information Systems degree, I first found a love for being creative in developing custom software. That is also where I found my love for technology. Looking to further feed my need for creativity and technology I started creating content for local Texas brands and businesses.
This content ranged from Google Virtual Tours to full-service commercial film production. These days, I’ve been focused on how to bring larger creative projects to Houston by building the infrastructure needed to support Houston’s talented creative community.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always bumps in the road. That is usually where the fun starts for me. Solving problems and challenges is just another way to be creative. I’m just thinking about just a few years ago; running a business during COVID certainly had its challenges. Thinking of ways to add value to whom we serve was interesting during those times. That led me down the path of my latest project, building Houston’s largest XR stage!

I am Co-founder of Captiv Studios and President of Captiv Creative. Captiv Studios is Houston’s Largest Video Production Studio & XR Stage. The immersive XR Stage is one of Captiv Studios’ big extraction.
An XR stage, often referred to as an Extended Reality stage, is a technological platform that combines elements of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) to create immersive and interactive experiences. Think how they filmed the The Mandalorian, The Batman, or the 1899 series.
Captiv Studios is the largest studio of its kind. The studio also offers a full suite of other production spaces such as a Green Room, Hair & Makeup, Conference Room, & Production Office. You can also source crew and rent gear all in one place.
One thing I am personally proud of is the community that has shown support. We have the privilege of supporting so many creatives on their projects and have created a space that inspires everyone who comes through the doors.
Being one of the only studios of its kind in Houston has its challenges as well. Right now, we are focused on introducing this technology to the Houston scene and educating creatives on how they can best use our space to create in a way that might be different than what they could have ever imagined.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice for networking is to be intentional. Place yourself in spaces where you know you’ll be surrounded by the people you want to have conversations with. Then, when you are there, make the most of it. That also goes for social media as well. Only follow and keep up with those who are going to add value to your life.
