Hi Diego, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
What started as a casual side gig quickly transformed into a career fueled by passion! Towards the end of 2019, while I was still completing my Nursing School prerequisites at Lone Star, I found myself uncertain about my true calling. During my college years, I had the opportunity to intern as an Assistant Project Manager for a construction company. It was through this experience that I discovered my interest in Landscape/Construction, or so I thought at the time. However, just as I was about to apply for Nursing school, the COVID pandemic hit. The circumstances forced schools to delay their application processes, which led me to assist my dad with his Lawn Care Business.
My dad has been the ultimate inspiration behind the incredible growth of our company today. Together, we took on several projects that gained us momentum, thanks to the positive feedback and testimonials from our initial customers. With this growing traction, we decided to invest more effort and time in acquiring efficient equipment, expanding our team to handle larger jobs, exploring networking opportunities, utilizing social media marketing for greater exposure, and ultimately establishing our brand as Modern Views Landscaping.
I owe our success to my parents, who have inspired and supported me throughout this journey, my business partner, who took a courageous leap of faith, and my amazing girlfriend, Katie, who has always believed in me and provided unwavering motivation.
With their encouragement and the dedication we have poured into this venture, Modern Views Landscaping has become more than just a side hustle; it has become a true passion-fueled career.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. However, as one of my favorite sayings goes “It’s not about the cards you’re dealt, but how you play the hand with them”. I was very lucky to have adopted this mentality early on thanks to the struggles I witnessed my parents face being first generation immigrants from Mexico. I myself am a DACA recipient. Which in short only allows me a limited amount of freedom so creating a business can hold a lot more adversity in terms of credit opportunity and business growth can really be affected by that. At the beginning we struggled keeping up with demand which led to longer completion times and unhappy clients. Fortunately we’ve learned and continue to learn in an effort to create a more optimal, efficient company to excel in all standards and expectations.
As you know, we’re big fans of Modern Views Landscaping LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a landscaping company that offers a wide range of services, including commercial landscape installation, maintenance, and design, as well as irrigation systems, drainage solutions, hardscape, carpentry work, and concrete services. Our primary goal is to be a comprehensive solution for all exterior needs, while embracing a modern approach to our work.
To bring our customers’ dream landscapes to life, we utilize innovative methods such as 3D renderings. This allows our clients to visualize their desired outcome before any work begins. Additionally, we incorporate drone footage to provide a broader perspective and showcase the potential of each project. Our detailed proposals ensure that our customers have peace of mind, knowing that they will receive a high-quality product that not only fits their budget but also stands the test of time.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
There are several changes occurring in the Landscaping industry that I’m expecting to unfold over the next five years such as sustainable eco-friendly practices, adoption of artificial intelligence to optimize outdoor aesthetics, drought-resistant landscaping, in-city/rooftop gardens, increased focus on the integration and function of outdoors spaces for mental health purposes, urban/community gardening for self sufficiency, and increased focus on biodiversity and habitat restoration. I expect all of these changes to reflect a growing awareness of long term environmental sustainability, well-being, and the need to create a better connection with nature in order to help preserve what we have for future generations to come.
