Meet Execution HTX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Execution HTX.

Execution HTX

Hello Execution HTX, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are a hardcore metal band from Houston, TX. We officially formed in 2022, but we have known each other for 13 years. Mauricio Moran and Conner Morgan have played music and in projects together since 2010. Both started playing trash metal and covering songs by Metallica in the early days. But as they progressed musically, they started experimenting with other types of Metal and music. After playing in several bands, one day, when they were performing on Warehouse Live, Mauricio’s friend Parrish Bruce went to see them perform; Parrish was with his dad, James Bruce. After the show, James talked to Mauricio and Conner and suggested they create a project together. After that, Mauricio decided to take on and create the band he originally wanted to create in 2011, Execution.

The original plan was for the band to be a Tharsh Metal band, getting inspiration from bands like Power Trip, Metallica, and Prowel. After several shows, the band started to lean more towards the Hard-Core metal genre.

The band released their first single, “Rain,” a song Mauricio and Conner wrote in 2010, but they added the new vocals from Parrish. Hellbound was the band’s second single; it drove a high-powered and fast-paced energy with a catchy chorus and fast riff intro, keeping a similar vocal style from Rain.

The band is now working on releasing the new single and music video “MNMLMC” in January 2024, now playing in the Hardcore style of metal, with heavy riffs, more breakdowns, and drums with more grove. The band will also be going on a small Texas tour starting 1/12 starting off in Houston, Texas.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been relatively smooth, thanks to our decade-long connection. However, one notable challenge we face is the physical distance between us. Mauricio resides in SoCal, while Parrish and Conner call Houston home. This geographical separation makes face-to-face practices and collaborative music creation a rare occurrence. Nevertheless, we’ve managed to discover a working formula that allows us to overcome this obstacle.

Our approach involves a virtual exchange of musical ideas, with Mauricio utilizing his proficiency in Pro Tools to craft riffs that he shares with Parrish and Conner. This remote collaboration has become our method for creating music, as we send tracks back and forth until a complete song takes shape.

Despite the miles between us, we make it a point to travel back and forth regularly. This commitment enables us to come together for local and out-of-town shows, ensuring that our music not only survives the physical distance but thrives on the shared passion we bring to our performances.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Our musical journey revolves around the hardcore metal genre, driven by the collective passion and deep-rooted enthusiasm for music that binds us together. While we might not have gained widespread recognition yet, our shared ambition is to emerge as one of the most formidable and renowned bands from Houston, Texas.

What distinguishes us is the unique tapestry of musical diversity woven into each of us. As music enthusiasts, we draw inspiration from varied backgrounds and have been exposed to an array of genres. This diversity, stemming from our distinct musical tastes and experiences, stands out as a defining feature that has the potential to elevate us as musicians and performers.

Our goal isn’t just about creating heavy and impactful music; it’s about carving a niche for ourselves in the music scene and leaving a lasting impression. With this shared dedication and the fusion of our musical influences, we believe we’re on a path to not only be recognized as a force in hardcore metal but also to contribute something special to the rich musical landscape of Houston, Texas.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
