Hi Amber, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I found love in photography when I took a high school film photography course. The process of photographing and developing with film was mesmerizing for me. At the age of 18, I started my career in photography. I opened my own studio at the age of 22. I have been a professional photographer since.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have definitely been ups and downs to being a small business owner. Covid definitely put a strain on the business. Luckily, I had already been in real estate photography, so I was able to be considered “essential.” I have the coolest job! It really is the perfect career for me. I light up every time I talk about photography. It truly is amazing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a professional photographer. I own Amber Starr Photography. I am super proud of the growth my art. Over the years, I have had many experiences. Tons of local photographers contact me for advice or tips. I am very fortunate to capture beautiful memories. My favorite thing is becoming part of my client’s families and watching them grow over the years. I always go above and beyond for my clients.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
You have to be passionate about your work. The photography industry is so saturated. Many amateur photographers will reach out and tell me how they don’t like certain things about the business. It is very unrelatable to me. I love all aspects of my career.
