Today we’d like to introduce you to Ernest Pierre.
Hi Ernest, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My photography journey began in 2018 as a simple hobby, focusing mainly on landscape and random objects. As my passion grew, I ventured into capturing images of people, and over time, my work began to resonate with others. My first client requested a studio shoot, and despite my initial lack of experience, I eagerly delved into learning by dedicating time to studying on platforms such as YouTube. This newfound dedication eventually transformed my passion into a business.
Throughout my journey with photography, I balanced part-time work with being a full-time college student at Florida A&M University. As I approached graduation, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted my plans. However, I seized this unexpected period to delve even deeper into photography.
In 2020, I took a leap of faith and transitioned to full-time photography, and since then, my business has flourished.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey with photography has been smooth, but the transition to Houston during a period of inflation hasn’t been easy. I have been truly blessed to receive work and connect with creatives here in Houston, and for that, I am forever grateful. However, the biggest thing that has saved me is being consistent with my craft and being intentional.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a portrait photographer who specializes in celebratory photography, with a particular focus on commencement images. I have been featured on multiple platforms, such as The Shade Room, Andscape, and NBC. What I am most proud of is the impact my images have on my clients. It’s a blessing to photograph future engineers, doctors, lawyers, business owners, and entrepreneurs. What sets me apart is my style of photography, which blends editorial and commercial elements.
