Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started tutoring shortly after I graduated from college in May 2021. Initially, it was something that I did on the side for extra money, but as time went on, I realized that I liked tutoring. I became a full-time professional tutor in the spring of 2022, and one year later, after being dissatisfied with the current trajectory of my career, I decided to go into business for myself. Atlas Tutoring was officially founded in January 2023. Over the course of the year, I expanded my customer base, offered more test prep programs, and hired excellent math/science and economics tutors. I am very proud of my business and my staff!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a struggle navigating the world of small business and entrepreneurship. I recognize that I didn’t have a lot of experience in the workforce before starting Atlas, and I definitely did not have much business sense! I am also self-funding my business, which has been very difficult for me at times to sustain.
Still, I am glad that I have had the chance to network with people who have helped my business grow, providing me with support and ideas along the way. Additionally, I am very glad that I have been able to hire competent and intelligent staff who are able to operate autonomously and with little supervision.

Atlas Tutoring offers private and group sessions to students from middle school to graduate school in a variety of subjects, including English, math, science, economics, college counseling, and test prep. At Atlas Tutoring, we aim to personalize every session to meet the needs of our students and focus on areas in which the student needs to improve. Each session is flexible and designed to work with the student to not only complete their work but help them achieve their short- and long-term goals. We do that in the most effective way possible—mastering the subject area and building lifelong, professional confidence. Our experienced tutors are passionate educators who’ve taken it upon themselves to help their community understand the effectiveness of personalized tutoring. Additionally, our tutors are known for their friendliness, flexibility, understanding, and subject mastery. Lastly, our company is proud to offer students flexible scheduling options that include late evenings and weekends, making it easier for students to find times that work for them.
Atlas Tutoring is currently focusing on spreading awareness and registering students for our 4-week summer SAT Boot Camps in June and July, which are designed to get students for the fall SAT. Our extensive and thorough curriculum covers every single topic on the new digital SAT, and students will have plenty of opportunities–through regular homework assignments and weekly practice tests–to improve their scores and be ready for test day!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I absolutely love seeing a concept *click* in a student’s head. It’s what every educator knows and loves. Additionally, I am always happy to hear when students reach out to me to say how happy they are with their test scores after they’ve worked with me or another Atlas tutor. Knowing that I’ve helped someone achieve their goal is what I strive for with every student.
